Summer Lovin Tuesday Twosome

What two things are you going to miss the most about summer?

Daylight savings time... I love long sunny days. And Ted Drewes being open.

What two things annoyed you the most about summer:

When the heat index and temperature is greater than 100. Leave request denials at my job... wait that is all year round, not just the summer.

Name two memorable moments from this past summer

Seeing The Color Purple on Broadway. Going to Memphis for a family reunion.

Did you go on vacation this summer and if so, where?

Yes, see the response above.

Who has more fun during summer: A child or an adult? And why?

I suppose a child, because even in extreme heat conditions they can manage to have fun. As long as I keep the juice and fruit snacks headed their way, the twins are fine.

Where were you 6 years ago (on September 11)?

Six years ago I was working at RadioShack, but I was off that day. I watched all of the events on television

What two major emotions do recall feeling?

Fear and sadness

Who were the first two people you called that day?

JT and my mom.

What two words best describes that day for you?

Chaos and destruction

What two major changes in your life has occurred since that day?

I have children and started talking to my father again.

Family Reunion

This weekend, JT, the twins and I traveled to Memphis for a family reunion. We had a lovely time. This was William and Keisha's first road trip and overall I think they did very well. They definitely are not used to being in the van for more than 45 minutes to an hour at a time, but I eased the impatience with plenty of fruit snacks and other goodies. Our van was packed... Uncle Fred and Uncle Ricky also road with us.

After arriving in Memphis, I was pleased to see everyone that I had not seen in a while. JT and I last went to Memphis in June 2003... before the twins were born. So this was the first time that many members of the family met William and Keisha. "Oooh, the twins, the twins," everyone yelled. William and Keisha are very outgoing, but very shy when they first meet people. So it took them a moment to warm up. After about 30 minutes, they were running all over the place and hugging aunts, uncles and cousins.

God Willing, next year's Family Reunion will be in California.

The picture below is of William and Keisha looking out the window in the hotel room, shortly after we arrived.

I Went to Las Vegas But I Did Not Forget

During the week of May 14, I went to Las Vegas to attend training for work. Training for work in Vegas? Yes, indeed and I loved it. This was the third time that I have been to Las Vegas in my life and the second time in two years. Our chapter shared a lot of information with other chapters. I picked up a few pointers for our chapter newsletter and other public relation ideas. I would not say that I actually *learned* as much as I did last year, but I still valued the experience.

M&M WorldOutside of training, I explored Vegas a lot more than I did last year. On Tuesday, we walked as far as Tropicana Hotel. This is a fairly long walk from the Flamingo Hotel in 90 degree weather. We stopped in M&M World, Coca Cola Store, MGM Grand Hotel (my family and I stayed there in 1994) and a few random shops. When you go into M&M World then the Coca Cola store, the Coca Cola store is a huge disappointment. M&M World has 4 levels of merchandise and a few activities. The Coca Cola store has 2 levels and besides the station with fresh fountain drinks, there was not much pleasing to the eye. We probably walked more than 3 miles up and down the strip that morning and afternoon. I left my visor at home, but with my sunglasses and sunscreen, I survived. I had a pretty nice tan with my tanktop.

Throughout the week, I talked to JT and the twins on Skype and that helped me not being able to hug and kiss them whenever I want like at home. My heart melted as I heard William and Keisha say, "Saw Mommy, Saw Mommy." I also had a lavender oil plugin in my hotel room to remind myself of home.

Pictures from Colorado

Here are a couple of pictures that were taken in Colorado Springs:

JT and I at the Garden of the Gods.

Close up of the above picture.

The Kissing Camels at Garden of the Gods.

Me *cheese* but it was mighty windy so I was not trying to look mighty pretty.

This was when they made me climb the rocks. I was so scared, but JT came to my rescue *swoon*.

The Penis Rock at Garden of the Gods. *Note* I named this rock, so do not try to claim this rofl

I love JT.

Colorado Springs Day Two

I woke up this morning rapping to myself, "Parents Just Don't Understand." How random... but that was the jam!! LOL

Last night JT and I took a trip to the laundromat *long sigh* I despise going to the laundromat, especially when you have to deal with a crowd, dryer hoggers, funky people or a huge clothing load. We fell into the latter category last night. Somehow we ended up with what appeared as three and a half weeks worth of clothes. I wanted to scream!! The washing was no problem, we use the super duper big washers that cost $4.75 and $3.75. The larger one, we use for the coloreds and the smaller for the whites (why do I always think of something racial when I say that lol). Anyway, the washing only takes twenty three minutes. No problem there!!... but the problem is with the drying. I swear those dryers stop working at the most inopportune times. Either they do not get hot at all or they get hot just a little bit, but someone with some stank breath can dry my clothes by breathing on the load faster than the dryers can. Despite using seven dryers, it took roughly an hour and a half to dry and fold all of the loads. The highlight of the trip to the laundromat was after playing Pac-Man (which is our routine while at the laundromat... and this time I came this close to beating the high score!!) we went over to the washing machines and there was six minutes left on the counter. JT and I looked at each other and the same time, we yell, "Six Minutes!!..." and we start rapping Doug E. Fresh's, "The Show." Are we showing our age? LOL

Still, going to the laundromat sucks!!

Colorado Springs Day One

Stop teh press!! Today is my Celie's birthday. Happy Birthday Carmen. I luh you wit all mah heart. Me and you mus neva part...

A whole week between posts… whoa I have not done that in a while. I had a major attack of pure laziness forgive me lol. I had a short work week but it did not feel like it, so I am quite thankful that today is Friday.

When you guys come to my site, do you get a popup like I am getting? I wonder if this is from the people who host my how many online script....

Thank you to my Vinabean for sending me a Hallmark E-Card yesterday, welcoming me back home. She makes me feel all speshul and loved *hugs* Truly the highlight of my day.

I am splitting my trip up into a couple of entries, so I will not bore you all at once. I want to split up that boredom, makes sense right? lol... The following includes day one of the trip (Saturday) and Friday Five.

I had a great weekend in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A little mini-vacation… but well I deserved if I may say. The ride to Colorado Springs was approximately thirteen and a half hours; back home took a few hours extra because of a few pit stops. During second and third grade I lived in Aurora and Denver, Colorado. I have several still shot memories of lots of snow, taking the bus, playing with my brother, moving from town house to a house, being singled out at school as one of the few gifted black children (oooooh she is black and smart) and building Lego houses nonstop. A bunch of good and bad memories remain in tact.

Trip to the Mountains

It only takes one thing to make a day go bad at work. My day was hectic but overall pleasing because I was handling my own. The end... not so good because this women (I am this close to calling her a not-so-good name but I am not going to stoop to that level yet) decides she wants to approach me and she did not come correct!!

My job is/was having a major restructure. For a while some were saying reorganization while others were saying restructure. To be honest they sound like the same damn thing to me. I learned this week the difference between restructure and reorganization. It still seems a tad silly to me but reorganization involves a few changes in a group, perhaps one or two people may switch groups and a restructure involves a major reorganization in group structures. Yeah whatever. Pretty much everyone is/was going to move seats but not all at once, that is just too like right. A groups/people moved at a time which caused people to wait on the person to move out of his/her future seat and this set off a nasty chain reaction.

I did not change my seat until today but from the moment I arrived at the beginning of my shift the lady who was supposed to move in my seat was bugging me about when I am going to move. My reply was that I was waiting on the women (whose seat I am supposed to move into) to move. Her desk was still cluttered with paperwork and food crumbs *UGH* Also, throughout the day, I helped people set up their email and transfer their favorites from one computer to the other. It was crazy but a smooth crazy... I really did not like having to clean up after another person. So she perhaps did not have time to clean up but you mean to tell me that you set in your own filth daily. Do not even clean up every now and then? Once a month? Nope. There is still food crumbs all over the damn floor because I do not have access to a vacuum. TRIFE.
