I’m beginning to not like my Guestmap anymore. Somehow all of my entries, except for two of them got deleted! I may delete the entire map if enough people don’t show interest, but for now I’ll give it one more shot. I still think it’s a cool concept… sign my guestmap.
Note to self, must pre-order Lord of the Rings on DVD immediately. Expected release date: Tuesday, August 06. 2002.
I noticed that there is more than one version of LOTR. Of course, you have your widescreen and fullscreen and I always prefer widescreen over the latter. There is also a special edition widescreen four disc DVD set that includes over thirty minutes of never before seen footage. This version is not expected for release until November 12, 2002. The last version is a Collector’s DVD Set that includes: the four disc DVD set and box packaging designed by Tolkien illustrator Alan Lee, a new version of the National Geographic DVD Beyond the Movie: The Lord of the Rings, collectible Argonath polystone bookends, and exclusive Decipher trading cards. The gift set is also not available until November 12, 2002.
Since I have no patience to wait until November, I’ll be ordering the first version I mentioned. When November comes around, I may get the four disc DVD set.
A young man is telling his Grandma how everything is going wrong. School problems, friend problems, family problems, financial problems, severe health problems, etc…
Meanwhile, Grandma is baking a cake. She asks her grandson if he would like a snack, which, of course,
he does.
“Here, have some cooking oil.”
“Yuck” says the young man.
“How about a couple raw eggs? ”
“Gross, Grandma!”
“Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?”
“Grandma, those are all yucky!”
To which Grandma replies: “Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! God works the same way. Many times we wonder why he would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good. We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!” God is Crazy About You.
He sends you flowers every Spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He’ll listen. He can live anywhere in the world, and He chose your heart.
“Scientists have built the virus that causes polio from scratch in the lab, using nothing more than genetic sequence information from public databases and readily available technology.
The feat proves that even if all the polio virus in the world were destroyed, it would be easily possible to resurrect the crippling disease, says Aniko Paul at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, one of the researchers conducting the study.
The result has major implications for vaccination programs that have nearly rid the world of polio. “I think it means you’re probably not going to be able to stop vaccinating people even after you eradicate the virus,” says Diane Griffin of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Paul believes the synthesis method could be applied to other viral diseases. “We feel this could be used for ebola, smallpox, just about anything,” she says. This raises the worrying possibility that bioterrorists could use a similar approach to create devastating diseases without having to gain access to protected viral stocks.
However, infectious disease specialists emphasise that these other viruses are far more complex than poliovirus and, for the time being at least, could not be synthesised so easily.”

This is a crazy ass world we live in.
Plan of action: I’m going to get back to writing poetry (again). Everytime JT and I go to Troy’s On the Park, I get inspired to writing. I don’t write as much as I used to, but I do know that writing still relaxes and eases my mind. The only thing I find more soothing is listening to something jazzy while taking a hot (and I do mean HOT) bath. This morning I read a poem entitled ‘Pussy’ by a talented poet named Ishle Yi Park. Yes, the poem is hot and steamy. I’m going to by a digital recorder and I hope that it helps JT and I remember our creative thoughts while we’re out and about.
Have you checked out my poetry lately?
Last night JT and I watched a movie called Epoch. Yes, I dozed in and out during the Science-Fiction movie, but a majority of what I did see was fairly dull. Epoch is about an alien structure that formed from the ground in a deserted part of Bhutan. United States, playing their regular role as Big Brother, sends a team of scientists and military over to Asia to investigate the issue. The scientists discover that the structure is about four billion years old and it ‘magically’ heals people of their ailments.
In the beginning of the movie, we’re led to believe the alien structure crashed into Earth four billion years ago. This would go with scientists’ comet theory about how life started on Earth. I loved the general concept of the movie; debating the creation of life always fascinates me. The concept was the only thing I enjoyed.
Tuesday, JT and I saw Men In Black II at Esquire Movie Theatre (see Janus’ review). Although the movie was only ninety-four minutes, the sequel was truly full of action and comedy. Like the first Men In Black, actors Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones worked wonderfully together; Jones‘ stiff comedy flows with Smith’s loose comedy style. Actress Lara Flynn Boyle played a lovely villainess and I enjoyed co-star Rosario Dawson’s role as Laura.
I don’t really want to delete my live journal account. I keep thinking maybe ONE DAY.. I just might start writing entries again. During the last few months, I’ve been putting a lot of my computer time into my website missnexus.com. I’m enjoying blogging on my own site and not just on Live Journal, not to mention it’s hard to dedicate equal time to both. It’s not like many people read my Live Journal anyway, but for the few that do or did… I wanted to let you know what the deally is. So long for now.

Big (White) Brother
I watched the premiere of Big Brother the other night on CBS. I’m not a fan of reality shows but I occassionally find myself watching this one. What upsets me is that every year that CBS has this show, the crew casts one Black male and one Black female. Is it a coincidence? I don’t think so. Why not have two Black females or two Black males and one Black female? Who is CBS trying to comfort by having their token Black couple every year? Themselves or the viewer? How about a Chinese, German and a Mexican couple? If they are trying to make the show diverse you can’t forget about other ethnicites right? Big Brother isn’t the only show that does this. Survivor, a CBS production, is also a victim of using token Black Americans. This is a extreme problem in the entertainment industry.
