My Left Foot

It only takes one little thing to change the entire mood of an evening. How did I know it was coming?

My evening was great until a few moments ago.

But let us rewind until this morning.

I woke up around 9am and called Nikki to go Party City to check out prices of bridal shower paraphernalia. Most of the day involved finishing up the bridal shower invitations and rushing them off to the post office. We made a few other stops along the way. I wanted to get a flag shirt at Old Navy, but they only had the ugly olive t-shirts left UGH.

After buying two books of stamps and mailing off the invitations, Nikki and I browsed around the mall for a bit. Dillards had a great clearance on some sandals, but of course they did not have my size!! I have been cursed with big feet. Well, size ten is not that big, but for a woman it is just not a common size. I thought I could get away with a size 9½ sandal then little did I know that my damn left foot is bigger than my right foot. WTF… yes my left heel hung way the fuck over the sandal compared to my right foot. I was truly flabergasted by this. So I threw a pair of Bass sandals and the salesman and said “how about these?” (Un)lucky me, they did not have those in my size either.

I am still trippin about my big left foot…

Anyway, Nikki found her a pair of sandals and I found a Nine West purse marked down from $59.99 to $14.75. I could not resist.

Next stop, The Limited then American Eagle. The Limited is one of my favorite stores, but I was disappointed with their poor selection of not only regular priced clothing, but also the sale priced clothing. American Eagle. I never thought this would be a store that I would enjoy shopping in until today. Nikki found a pair of jeans to go with her Limitedshirt. Then at AE I found a red tank top ($6), pair of sandals ($9) and a wallet ($6) all on sale!! Clearance and Sale are definitely my best friends. The only downfall to the sandals is that some of the beads on the sandal thong are red, so it will not go well with every outfit.

You betta believe that I loaded my new purse, wallet and put on my new tank top and sandals when I rode on down to Fair St. Louis with my best friend and my Mama. Mama greeted me with a “hello Miss. Fat Booty.” No she didn’t mean PHAT (pretty hot and tempting), she meant F-A-T. Gotta love the moms.

Down at the fair

Black people never start a concert on time, so you know we did not miss a note of The Isley Brothers’ performance. We had some pretty good seats, thanks to Tiffany’s aunt. As always, Ronald and Ernie put on a great performance. Pimped out in a striped tan suit, Ronald filled the crowd with excitement singing classics such as ‘Between the Sheets’ and ‘Shout.’ Of course there could not be an The Isley Brothers show without singing my all time favorite song, ‘Make Me Say It Again Girl.’ The only shocking thing was that they did not sing ‘What Would You Do.’ I was truly amazed, considering that song was their latest hit. Oh well, I still enjoyed the FREE show.

I am uploading pictures from the concert as well. one | two

The second picture is the keyboardist whom, Carmen’s roommate thought was R-ruh Kelly…

hey its carmen (11:45:17 PM): I HEARD R-RUH MADE AN APPEARANCE AT THE FAIR!

The Fair St. Louis concluded with a spectacular display of twenty minutes of fireworks. They played 93% cheesy Americanish songs, but Madonna’s ‘Ray of Light’ and Prince’s ‘Purple Rain,’ stood out in my listening ear.

Oh and to all of my fellow St. Louisians, next year the fair will be on Memorial Day weekend. The only upside of this is that it will not be so damn hot in May as it is in July.

Now that I have written all of this out, I guess it really does not matter what made my evening turn for the worse. I will just sit back and reflect and think about how much I accomplished today and how much fun I had with Nikki, Tiffany and my Mama!!

Let me apologize again to Carmen for not meeting up at the fair yesterday (like I said I would). Forgive me <3

I wish she did not have to work today… then she could have danced her ass off like me along with the Isleys.

Congratulations to Serena Williams.

Is it normal to have one foot bigger than the other?

For Nik, I am posting the Amaretto Chicken recipe. By the way, I am going to modify this a bit when I cook the dish next time:

Amaretto Chicken

8 servings:

5 Boned Chicken Breasts
3 tb Flour
1 ½2 ts Garlic Salt
1 ½ ts Ground Pepper
2 ts Paprika
3 tb Butter
1 ½ tb Dijon Mustard
1 can oz Frozen Orange Juice
1 ½ c Amaretto

Preparation: Mix the can of frozen orange juice with a half can of water. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, salt, pepper, paprika and garlic salt. Coat chicken with this mixture. Heat oil and butter in skillet and saute chicken until brown. Remove and put in casserole. To skillet, add mustard, orange juice and Amaretto. Increase heat and boil, stirring constantly, until thick. Pour sauce over chicken and bake, covered, for 45 minutes. this can be frozen and reheated later. Serves 8 - 10.

Now I do not know about the eight servings crap. For real life people, it is more like 3-4 servings. No one eats small portions around here.
