Where Are the Coloreds?
Desperate Housewives is my favorite new show of the season, but I have just one question folks. Where are the black people on this show? We don’t live on the block, around the corner, hell we don’t even clean the streets, pick up the trash, work in the bar or the stores. Forget the episode that I missed guest starring Oprah (they already showed that right?)… she doesn’t count. Well, she counts as a black person but not for this count because she is OPRAH. Oprah gets whatever she wants and if she wants to guest star in a town where there are no coloreds, she can do that. So we remain at a zero count of coloreds in the town of Dramaville.
I was completely caught off guard to hear JT say this morning that he wanted to see “Diary of a Mad Black Woman.” This is after several weeks ago, (I am eighty three percent certain that) he said he didn’t want to see this because it was a chick flick. I COULD be getting this mixed up with another movie that he called a chick flick. Who knows because it seems like he is always declaring any movie that revolves around a relationship, a chick flick. The last thing I have to say relating to “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” is that I am so thankful that Shemar Moore finally cut off those cornrows. Cornrows is not for everyone people. I understand it was for his role in the movie, blah blah… but why oh why did he keep them up after the production was over? I kept seeing previews of Young and the Restless with him and those damn cornrows. Cornrows is not for Shemar, it doesn’t fit him. He looked like a wannabe thug tryin to be down. I’ll try not to think about this when we go see this movie on Sunday.
I forgot to tell you that in recent weeks, we have also seen “Million Dollar Baby,” “Hitch” and “Constantine.” On a scale of 1-10, I rate them: 9.5, 8.5 and 7.5 respectively. I would have given “Million Dollar Baby” a ten if we would have known why exactly the daughter of Clint Eastwood’s character didn’t respond to his letters. What did he do that long ago that made her hate him? The only thing I could think of was that her dad focused so much on his career that he didn’t spend time with his family when she was growing up.
This week is the beginning of my reduced work schedule. As I told my counselor(s), I can’t afford to take off time from work for my depression. I’m already deep in the whole for sick leave because of my maternity leave last summer. A reduced work schedule was the second best suggestion. Now this was about TWO MONTHS ago that I originally discussed this with my counselor(s). I’ll leave it at that before I get really worked up. For the next (at least) ninety days I’ll be off one day out of the work week. I’ll use this time to catch up on sleep, write, doctor appointments, download stuff, read, clean up the house *gasp and you know… watch soap operas.
I just finished eating breakfast; two waffles, four strips of TURKEY bacon and rice. I try to eat breakfast daily now because it provides a great energy boost that gets my day going. Remembering to take my vitamins and supplements… now that is another story. Imagine how energetic I would be if I ate breakfast AND took my vitamins. My vitamins are sitting in my backpack right now. Ask me if I will go take them after finishing this entry. Nope I won’t. I’ll get distracted and forget to take them. Sounds weird, but that’s the way it works.
I think Keisha has finally got rid of her little stomach bug. The loose bowel movements have decreased to about one a day now. The twins’ appetites are getting stronger and I think it is about time to reintroduce some solid foods. When all of these weird things started happening a a couple of weeks ago, we pulled away from the solid foods. The timeframe is still okay because most pediatricians recommend solid foods around age six months. But what they can’t have until one year of age: peanuts, eggs, wheat, corn, citrus fruits (oranges, tomatoes, etc) and berries.
William is slowly crawling backwards now and it is so cute to watch him get up high on all fours. Keisha will probably be literally following her brother’s footsteps soon. She always studies his movements when he does something new. The twins slept all night TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW. Keisha has consistently slept all night long for a long time, but William normally wakes up at 3:30am because of a wet diaper or he cries for his pacifier (better known as THE BINKY). I look forward to seven uninterrupted nights of sleep in a row. I might become a new person when this happens.
