Saturday 6

1. How different is your speech pattern among your friends versus a stranger you’d meet on the street?

Fairly different. I am definitely more lax with my friends regarding my speech than with a stranger. If I mess up my grammar with a friend, I do not really care.

2. How often do you get asked where you’re from based on your accent?

Seems like during college, I was asked that question a lot. Not that much these days, but sometimes at work when I help customers.

3. What word or phrase said by newscasters is your biggest pet peeve?

Person of interest. Damnit just go ahead and say suspect, why don’t you?

4. Take the quiz: How good at grammar are you?

a Saturday 6

You got 10/10 questions correct.

It’s pretty obvious that you don’t make basic grammatical errors.
If anything, you’re annoyed when people make simple mistakes on their blogs.
As far as people with bad grammar go, you know they’re only human.
And it’s humanity and its current condition that truly disturb you sometimes.

A few times throughout the week, I use my hardback copy of Webster’s New World College Dictionary and I often go to http://www.m-w.com for the online reference.

6. How many books or guides on grammar do you currently own?

I own, between 10 and 15 grammar books.
