Pet Peeve Number Nine
Today was a pretty busy day. The morning started off with a doctor appointment with my primary care physician. The appointment went well. Dr. D. is concerned about weight gain but he doesn’t seem as concerned as I am. He just wants me to stay healthy and do all I can to prevent getting diabetes, which is so prevalent in my family. Twenty pounds is my personal weight loss goal, and this pretty much matches up with the height and weight chart that I saw in the office. My doctor is quite the character and his subtle jokes always keep the appointments interesting.
I was in a hurry to get out, but I wanted to be sure and stay at the receptionist desk to schedule for a follow-up in three months. I stayed patient and hung in there, scheduling the next visit for July something… heh it’s a good thing I have a printout of the date, because I already forgot the date. I just know that it is in July. The receptionist also gave me a cool pen. You see that it really doesn’t take much to please me.
After the appointment, H. and I headed to an offsite POD for our Family & Medical Leave Act Lunch and Learn. Considering the size of this particular POD, we thought the turnout was nice. The draining part of that day was the ride back to our own POD… Highway 70, bleh.
I ate lunch when I got back to work, but I had to get over the fact that Imos forgot to give me my garlic cheese bread. I suppose that it was my own damn fault for not checking the order *grumbles*. I called the pizza joint and asked for a credit of that amount back to my debit card. The alleged manager said that he cannot give partial credits, but he can give me a credit in the computer. Of course I introduced myself at the beginning of the conversation but later on he said, “and you said your name is Shontel?” I gave slight, yet insulting chuckle and said…, “no I said my name is Rashaan.” Pet peeve number 9: Pronounce my name incorrectly after I have clearly stated it for you.
That afternoon, I had a long talk with my manager about many topics. Unlike my previous manager, conversations with her are not draining and she is really easy-going. I wish that she was not going to retire next month, but I know that she is doing what she has to do.
I hope that nothing crazy goes down at work tomorrow, but on the other hand, I would not be surprised if it did.
