Not Again

Over the last two weeks I have noticed a gradual decline in William’s hearing. Yes, William’s twin sister, Keisha just went through the same thing. At first JT and I thought Wiliam was just being hard headed and not paying attention on purpose. Then I started to see some of the same behavior and patterns as I saw with Keisha in recent months.

Last month marked one year since William had his second set of tubes, so we were due for a follow-up visit with the ENT anyway. Recent events at home delayed getting an appointment set up. Yesterday, JT called and I believe he was able to get an appointment for the 24th. Things are more tense at home again. I try to talk things out with JT so I do not hold the frustration in. Likewise, I explain to JT how important it is to not hold the stress, anger or whatever inside.

At this point, I do not know if William will need a third set of tubes. Maybe there is fluid built up like Keisha has/had and it will gradually go away. Or maybe there is a major wax build up that I cannot see. I feel that the whole ear fluid issue has definitely hindered their speech development. They stutter a lot. We have a speech and language development appointment already set up for Keisha later this month. It takes months to get these set up, so there is no telling what we will need to do for William.

I am stressed out. I need answers and resolution but I will have to just take one day at a time and be as patient as I can for my family and I.

Time for work. ugh.

  1. Well I do hope that you have found a solution to the problem.

Hearing problems can very sensitive. I guess the best way is to give him medical help that is reliable.

I hope he is doing well.

  2. I think patience is the key. There is no doubt that hearing defects are can be tricky and need to be looked after well.

I am sure your kids are fine now. I am sorry that the first post that I am reading in your blog had to be something like this.
