Monday Mission 3.30

1. Have you ever had, or known someone who has had, a “Mid-Life Crisis?” What happened? Is there such a thing or is it just an excuse?

I do not know anyone personally that has had one, but I have heard about them. I do think they are very possible, but also preventable.

2. Have you ever had a dream so vivid, that you woke up with certain emotions towards a person for what happened in your dream, even though they didn’t do a thing to deserve it in real life? What did you feel and and what was the dream?

Yes, I have awaken and been very angry at a particular person and took out the anger on the person even though the particular person did not do a thing to me!! I eventually apologized.

3. How do you express your creativity? Have you ever made money from it?

I express my creativity through photography. I have not made money from it YET. I am working on this. In high school, I played the violin for a brief time and I used to draw a lot. I also express my creativity through poetry.

4. Has anything you created ever been stolen? How did you handle it?

Thankfully, no or shall I say, not that I am aware of. I would be furious and disappointed because I put a great deal of effort and time into my work and I feel it should not be stolen.

5. Do you think downloading music via file sharing is “stealing?” Is taking songs without paying for them any different than someone taking your work without your permission?

If you are sharing the music, then no I do not feel this is stealing, but on the other hand if you are selling it without the artists’ permission then yes, this is stealing.

6. How do you feel about the RIAA targeting everyone (parents, teenagers, grandparents) who share songs over the Internet with expensive lawsuits? Should they be selective in who they subpoena, or should all who violate copyrights be treated equally? Or are they going too far? Should the music be free?

The RIAA is going too far. Just put an end to the filesharing programs to prevent future “theft” (as they like to say), instead of sending subpoenas to thousands of people that will be a timely and costly project.

7. On the same thought, what do you think pay-per-song concepts such as iMusic and BuyMusic.com? Will they succeed? Is this the solution? If not, what is?

It is an interesting concept, but I cannot see myself using it unless I was searching for a particular RARE song. I think it may take a few years before this concept is successful. This is not the solution, it is one of the solutions. Another solution is to reduce the cost of CDs for the consumers. Record companies have made unfulfilled promises for a long time regarding lowering prices and now it is time to fulfill their end of the bargain. Who wants to pay $14 per CD. It costs less to make a compact disc than a cassette tape yet a compact disc costs more than a cassette tape. Where is the logic here?

BONUS: Why can’t we be ourselves like we were yesterday?

Today, I may be a better person, so why would I want to be like I was yesterday?

Today’s Comment Question: What is one thing you absolutely will never do? (no restrictions, say anything you want)

There are plenty things that I absolutely will never do… but to save time one thing is SKYDIVE. No money in the world can make me do this. I have no desire to jump out of a plane into nothing. Watching people do this on television and in movies is enough for me.
