Kindergarten Already?

William and Keisha will be five years old this fall. This is so hard to believe and what has me even more in shock is that they will be going to kindergarten this fall. My twins are now officially registered for kindergarten, thanks the applications that I filled out and the hard work of my husband going down to the school yesterday. They will be attending private school and the tuition is $385.00 a month (total for both children) plus food for breakfast and lunch and morning care. With a baby on the way, paying tuition will not be an easy task, but I know that we can make it happen.
I am so thankful that I was wrong about my worries a few days ago. I misread one of the registration papers, thinking that the tuition was $5,200.00 per child. It is… but it is not. Meaning that this is the price before the school gets their funding from donations and the Archdiocese. The rate that parents pay for one child is $2,050.00 and two children, $3,200.00 (plus fees). I have never personally had any exposure to private schools so this will be a new adventure for me. I still have to find out about the uniforms (cost and where to purchase them).
In many ways this is a dream come true because I decided a long while ago that if I ever had children that I would have them in a private school if public schools were not an option. I definitely do not care for the public schools in my area so I believe my husband and I made a great decision for our children. We also considered a charter school that is near our home, but unfortunately William and Keisha will not be 5 years old by the cut off point in July. After their first year in kindergarten, we will still keep our options open because they could transfer to the other school.

Private schooling eh? Only the best for the best :)
Glad to hear the fees are not quite as outrageous as you first thought. I still can’t believe they’re that age already… time flies; far too quickly.
Yes, I definitely want the best for my children *big smile*
Can understand you wanting the best for your children, but when I begin teaching (in a few years, with a bit of luck) it will be in the public school system.
I’m sure your darlings will thrive in whatever schooling environment they are in.
Rantzs last blog post..Look Ma, No Feet!*
Rantz, I did not know that you wanted to teach. That is very nice. What do you want to teach?
There are some good public schools out there. In fact I went to great public schools from grades K – 12. Unfortunately, these great public schools are not always accessible if you do not live within their school district.
I have three more years til I send my littlest one off to preschool and I think I might cry just thinking about it.
