Jenga Jenga Jenga

Jenga 300x300I think a little virus is going through our household and most likely from Alexander’s daycare.  Yesterday morning, Alex started sniffing and coughing so I gave him a small dose of cold medicine.  About an hour after we arrived home from work and daycare, Alexander was not being playful like he is normally.

Mommy mode kicked in… I scooped Alexander up and brought him  upstairs to my bedroom.  He had a fever so i immediately gave him some ibuprofen (he is old enough for the chewable ones now).  I let Alex watch Netflix and play Angry Birds on my iPad to ease the irritability.  Then sleepiness took over but Alex kept trying to play another round of Angry Birds Space.  I had to take the iPad away from… which of course he did not like.  I played some classical music on Pandora to calm him down and we both fell asleep.  A few minutes later, I woke up, felt Alexander’s head, noticed the fever was starting to go away and I took Alex to his bed.

This morning, Alex was his cheerful self, but unfortunately the fever came back.  I decided last night that I was going to stay home from work if my baby was still ill.  So, here I am at home with my baby.  I gave Alex some more ibuprofen this morning around 6:30 a.m. and he drank a cup of milk.  I fixed breakfast for him and we have been watching Disney channel non-stop.  After breakfast, Alex started playing with the Jenga blocks and everytime he grabs them I cringe, because I just know he is going to end up losing some of those.  He doesn’t understand the game yet; the Jenga blocks are just another set of blocks.  Alex likes to mix up the Jenga blocks with his other blocks, toolset and Tinker toys.  On the bright side of things, he did clean (most of ) it up.  Now my little Doodie is taking a nap on my bed and feverless.  I think I will lay down with him.  William had the sniffles this morning.  I hope the cold passes soon.
