I Hate You Dobbs, and Your Little Dog Too
We have been having some problems with our van for a little over a month now. A few weeks back we shelled out about a $1,000.00 in repair at a local Dobbs. We did not want to do it but felt it was necessary. A couple of days after the repair, the van started over heating - the same issue as before. Dobbs claimed that the thermostat was bad and they replaced it - again.
Two weeks later, the same damn thing happen. At this point I am really going off about Dobbs to JT. I wanted him to go to another Dobbs, but I later realize that it was best to resolve it at the same Dobbs from the beginning.
All in all, Dobbs claimed to have fixed the issues for a total of three times over the last few weeks. Last week the van started acting up again and this time the van turned off while JT was driving it on the highway. Thankfully there was not an accident and JT did not get hurt. Very dangerous. This time JT went off on Dobbs to the extreme. Dobbs ran yet another diagnostic test on the van and this time… and I stress this time, they find out that the head gasket is cracked or blown. How in the hell can it be either or? Can they not tell which it is… shit I hate trying to figure out stuff about cars and I hate mechanics even more. You can’t trust most of them.
Why didn’t Dobbs find out about the gasket in the first place. If we knew about the head gasket being cracked then we would not have invested $1,000.00. We would have finished paying off the van and just invest the $1,000.00 in another used car. Instead we paid $1,000.00 for a partial fix and still I end up getting another car last Friday with a down payment of… yup $1,000.00.
We are out of $2,000.00, stuck with a nearly completely broken van that is not paid off until about February but I have a new used car. A black 2003 Hyundai Elantra. I named her Alem’arar. She is a Star Wars character and I chose her because she is a bad bitch and I love her name.
I have more stories to share about the twins turning four yesterday, William’s doctor appointments and the party that almost did not happen. I will share soon.

Your blog is so cool and its fun reading it . The theme and design are very nice and unlike other blogs the advertisement ratio is quite low . Congrats you are doing a great job. Keep the good works going
My first car had a head gasket go, it was pretty sudden and billows of smoke would pour out of it. Of course, it was a 1984 diesel ford escort and by that time I didn't even need to push in the clutch to shift gears.
That was very bad to hear the story about your van.
but you got a new car and its looks sexy.:)
Oh, I hate it when that happens. When you find a good mechanic - stick with them. Ask around for a mechanic that friends are happy with. It’s an art and not all garages have it.
The Maplewood store (St. Louis) alleged to repair sways bar. The sway bars were directly in front of them when the alleged to have repaired a bearing have tried to get refund from Dobbs but have denied the request. Please check the better business bureau before getting repairs from company Buyer beware.
Dont even get me started on mechanics. I dont think any of them can be trusted. Thats why I have my husband do all the repairs on our cars. I think you’ll like your hyundai though. We have a 2001 hyundai accent and it has been a very good car for us the past couple of years.

Hi Jenny, I wish we knew how to do our own repairs on cars. I am enjoying my Hyundai a lot. I think it was an excellent investment.
