Dolby AC3 (2000)
I downloaded a video about a week ago and just got around to playing it last night. I opened the .avi file in Windows Media Player and it said it could not play the audio because I needed a codec. I clicked on the web help link and I was informed that Dolby AC3 (2000) was needed. After I cursed at my computer, I immediately googled the term.
I sifted through a lot of garbage to find a discussion on a forum that had the correct resolution and a link to the file.
Here is the information in case you ever run into the same problem:
The file is available at: http://sourceforge.net/ and the name of the file is AC3Filter.
AC3Filter can be found at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ac3filter/ and the direct download link is: http://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=66022
AC3Filter is described as a DirectShow AC3 Decoder filter used to playback AVI files with AC3 sound tracks and DVDs. Multichannel and S/PDIF support. Focused at flexible controls during playback: gains, mixer, stream information, levels and other.
Enjoy.
