Stop teh press!! Today is my Celie’s birthday. Happy Birthday Carmen. I luh you wit all mah heart. Me and you mus neva part…
A whole week between posts… whoa I have not done that in a while. I had a major attack of pure laziness forgive me lol. I had a short work week but it did not feel like it, so I am quite thankful that today is Friday.
When you guys come to my site, do you get a popup like I am getting? I wonder if this is from the people who host my how many online script….
Thank you to my Vinabean for sending me a Hallmark E-Card yesterday, welcoming me back home. She makes me feel all speshul and loved *hugs* Truly the highlight of my day.
I am splitting my trip up into a couple of entries, so I will not bore you all at once. I want to split up that boredom, makes sense right? lol… The following includes day one of the trip (Saturday) and Friday Five.
I had a great weekend in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A little mini-vacation… but well I deserved if I may say. The ride to Colorado Springs was approximately thirteen and a half hours; back home took a few hours extra because of a few pit stops. During second and third grade I lived in Aurora and Denver, Colorado. I have several still shot memories of lots of snow, taking the bus, playing with my brother, moving from town house to a house, being singled out at school as one of the few gifted black children (oooooh she is black and smart) and building Lego houses nonstop. A bunch of good and bad memories remain in tact.
Arriving in Colorado Springs, I enjoyed my lovely view of the Rocky Mountains. I think the last time I went to Colorado was 1998; to visit my grandmother. I did not go to Denver this time around, nor did I even call my father, grandmother or brother. My other brother (here at home in St. Louis) left a message on my cell phone, telling me that my brother (in Colorado) wanted to call me. I did not have an opportunity to call him… or was it that I did not want to speak to him? Perhaps a little of both? Can you read the confusion and indecisiveness within me? In the last two and a half years (and any other time when he felt he did not want to be with his family), anything that has to deal with my father, I have pulled myself away from. My family knows where I am and if they do not they know how to find out where I am. What has prevented any of them from calling me? Now I know I should not be like how they are, but this has been a difficult thing for me to overcome. I have been dealing with this no contact thing in my family all of my life. Fortunately, this has never been the case with my Mama and Aunt Dot.
We got to C’s mom’s house early Saturday morning. C cooked us breakfast; turkey bacon, eggs and toast. After that we laid back and watched that latest Denzel Movie, Out of Time *looks around room and giggles* The movie was not worthy of my six dollars in the theatre so I am glad JT and I did not go check that out as I originally wanted. The plot was extremely weak and quite predictable. We lounged around the house for a while, caught up on things going on in our lives and later on, C’s brother, S escorted us to Garden of the Gods which is not too far from the mountains.
Garden of the Gods is extremely beautiful and serene and I was having an absolute smurfy time until they all made me climb the rocks. JT claims that he was not aware of my fear of heights *rolls eyes * but would you not think that if I am screaming no, no no that one would get the picture that I just may not want to climb the rocks? They started climbing the rocks and they left me, so I was forced to climb *shivers * I am at work now, so I shall stick a couple of pictures in this post later. I almost started to cry (this is the moment when you refrain from laughing at me) but I was able to climb with the assistance of JT. My heart was pounding ferociously. I hate heights, I hate em hate em hate em!!
After leaving, Garden of the Gods, we went over to Manitou Springs (map). We stopped in a local restaurant and sampled their Mate Late. One guy gave us evil looks, as if we only came there to sample and not purchase anything. Everyone else was very friendly and considerate. With creamer and honey, the Yerba Mate Tea was actually quite soothing and tasty. I decided to purchase a .75 pound bag for seven dollars… this was a good deal because it was pure tea, no bags. The Yerba Mate Tea is like green tea and full of anti-oxidants.
We were going to go to the club later that night, but after arriving home we were beat… a two hour nap turned into five hours. I woke up at 2 am, C asked me if I still wanted to go out… I mumbled not really because the club closed at 4 or 5am and to me it did not make sense to get ready (which would take at least an hour, thirty minutes for me to get my mind awake and thirty minutes to get my clothes and hair together) then go to the club for an hour or two. Colorado weather is the pits just like St. Louis; my allergies/sinuses were acting up so I was not really mentally nor physically in the mood to go clubbin that late.

Tomorrow I shall input day two of the trip (Sunday)… Now on to the Friday Five:
1. Name five things in your refrigerator.
Milk, cheese (sliced and shredded), bottled water, eggs and creamer. Nothing very exciting!!
2. Name five things in your freezer.
Frozen vegetable mix (brocolli, carrots, cauliflower), boneless chicken breasts, ground beef, Alaskan fillet fish and Bacardi Rum frozen drink mix.
3. Name five things under your kitchen sink.
Cleaner, pots and pans… hmm that is not five is it?
4. Name five things around your computer.
Scanner, printer, bills, stapler and telephone.
5. Name five things in your medicine cabinet.
Benadryl, Sudafed, Tylenol, Ibuprofen and Ambi cream (if you ever have any skin discolorations, this stuff works). Recently, C told me about Proactiv and I am thinking about trying that as well.
Oh yeah, I caught the last four innings of the Yankee victory. I have absolutely no sympathy for the Boston Redsox, nor their fans. The curse continuessssss (for the Redsox and the Cubs) muauauahahhahahaaa
