2009 All Star Game
Congratulations to the American League (again *grunts under breath*). I wanted the National League to win of course. I am not certain about what the issue is, but one of the announcers feels that it has to do with the…
Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking
Why does it feel like shortened work weeks are more difficult than an entire work week? Monday was a holiday, so I was off from work. Four days. Four days that should have been easy… Of course not, you cannot apply logic and reason to anything that has to do with my job.
The week ended a lot better than it began thanks to a few pep talks from dear friends.
The highlight of my night: William counted to ten on his own for the first time. I was very excited. I cheered for him, congratulated and hugged him. Keisha could not be outdone… she immediately ran over to count to ten. She did it about 5 or 6 times before I stopped her by asking her to go get her pajamas. I have a feeling my twins are going to be very competitive as they grow up.
This evening I began to clean off my desk. I threw away a lot of crap but as I look down at at… it doesn’t look like I did much to it at all. My desk stays cluttered. I think the only time my desk has been clean is 1. when we moved and 2. when I was in the hospital after the birth of my twins, JT cleaned up the house. That is it. Sad I know.
I signed up for ESPN Fantasy Baseball 2007 under the Blogshares League. My team is the St. Louis Juggernauts, abbreviation: JUGG. I need to make a logo for the team soon. The draft is March 23.
Other than that, I took it easy today. Came home and took a nice nap. Spoke with friends online. Spent time with William and Keisha. Watched a show with JT and had dinner. Now I am listening to music on Last.fm, tag: neo soul. Can’t go wrong with Jill Scott.
2006 World Series Champions
Congratulations to the 2006 World Series Champions… the St. Louis Cardinals. The first championship for my hometown since 1982. The second championship in my lifetime.

After the Bowl
As I suspected, Super Bowl Sunday was nothing to be excited over. I really wanted the Philadelphia Eagles to win, only because I can’t stand the New England Patriots. Damn the New England area for their Super Bowl AND World Series victories. So what Patriots… I don’t care that you have won three out of four Super Bowls and you’re a dynasty now. And Paul McCartney… no one cares that your wardrobe didn’t malfunction. I rather hear and see Janet Jackson over you any day. And speaking of Janet Jackson, let us get over the incident that took place last year folks. Old news, old news. We know she did it on purpose, she just didn’t realize the repercussions.
Back on subject. I was really disappointed with the halftime show and the Super Bowl ads. The opening acts before the game were ten times better than dear old Paul. I didn’t even know who that old country man was, but I found myself stomping to the music as he jammed on his violin. LOL I don’t even like country music. And later during halftime, I snoozed away as Paul McCartney sang ‘Hey Jude’ and whatever oldie he dug up (feel free to visit his site for a recap). I feel this is the first year in a while that the ads were more dull than the game itself. The FCC really put it on em last year huh? I did enjoy the Bud Light commercial with the skydiving and the FedEx commercial with Burt Reynolds. The writers of these two commercials understand the concept of entertainment AND selling the product. Take a look at the USA Today 17th Annual Ad Meter.
Judah Punked Spinks
Wow, I am really sad to hear this news…
http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Movies/02/04/obit.davis.ap/index.html
Ossie Davis was such a profound actor who contributed a great deal to the Black community. I think I was most down about him dying away from his wife, Ruby Dee, whom he was married to over fifty years.
You will be missed Mr. Davis.
On a lighter note, I couldn’t have been more disappointed by a boxing fight. Cory Spinks versus Zab Judah II. I guess we were set up for failure, having such a big event in St. Louis. World Series. No hockey. Rams choke. Now this. One person told me that they think it was a setup so there would be a third bout between the two. Whatever… I’m just mad that Judah, coming from a LOWER weight class basically made Spinks look like a chump in his own home town. Am I bitter? Yeah maybe. We watched the bout on Showtime and the only thing more disappointing than the loss itself was that the camera crew didn’t show any of the stars in the audience. I WAS most definitely looking forward to seeing Denzel Washington!! …Oh and I was curious as to what Beyonce and Jay Z were wearing LOL.
Had I not been able to spend time with JT and the twins and eat the lovely Imo’s pizza double the hamburger I would have demanded my money back, but wait I didn’t pay for anything. But mark this event down in the category of reasons to move away from St. Louis. I’m serious.
Post Turkey Day
Thanksgiving was a very lovely day for JT and I…
Last Wednesday night, I boiled the sweet potatoes, cut up the red, yellow and green peppers, green onions, carrots and cucumbers then placed them in a plastic container with Mrs. Dash and about two tablespoons of red wine. I let the vegetables marinate over night *yummy* I also baked the corn bread and cut up green onions and celery for the stuffing. I let JT cut up the yellow onions because I just cannot tolerate my eyes watering the entire time while cutting them. I realized I should have started all of this as soon as I got home that evening, instead of chatting online and doing other random stuff. So around 2am, I started getting REALLY tired. Meanwhile JT was preparing the turkey and defrosting the chicken wings. We both fell out at 3:30am… next thing I know it is 6ish and JT is making me get up. I am grumpy than a mug when I am awaken out of my sleep like that. Thankfully, JT is used to it and he was mighty patient with me while I struggled for about 15 minutes to wake up lol…
When I (somewhat) got my mind set together, I began preparing the stuffing. I dazed off several times as I crumbed the soft cornbread in my hands… then I poured the chicken broth, cut up celery and onions in and sprinkled a bunch of sage on the mix. JT and I sampled the results to make sure I had enough of everything… something was missing… SUGAR. I sprinkled some sugar in… I began to panic because I did not have enough aluminum baking pans (or so I thought at the time). I dug around for anything that would work and I found a bunch of new eight inch cake pans, and I had just enough for my sweet potatoes and stuffing which both used three cake pans. Stuffing and yams in a cake pan… ghetto I know, but hey it worked. While baking the stuffing, I began to clean up the apartment since Mama was coming over later. Then JT and I took turns, while I cooked, he cleaned and vice versa.
Pre Turkey Day
I would so like to say that I have been mad busy working on my homework, a new layout, my other site(s) *looks around* and other miscellaneous projects around home… but that would like be a big fat lie. Over the weekend, I did not do much be get reacquainted with one of my all-time favorite PC games, The Sims. This game is highly addictive… so addictive that when it first came out I was playing it hours at a time. Things got so bad that I finally came out of denial, uninstalled it and did not play it for about three years. LOL do not laugh at me, laugh with me. Fast forward three years later… remember when I was talking about my five hour rendezvous in Best Buy? Well one of the things that I bought*giggles @ JT* was The Sims Double Deluxe. It was on sale for $24.99!! I could not pass up such a deal…
NBA… What?
First and foremost, JT I hope you do well on you know what :D
I love you so much!!
Argh for some reason the last couple of times that I have blogged, b2 is giving me double posts. I’m going to have to fix that because it’s getting annoying to have to log into CPanel and delete the entry through phpMyAdmin everytime. Yeah yeah I know that I can delete it through my b2template.php but I didn’t want so many skipped entries, i.e. this will be entry number XX1 then it will double post as XX2 and I will delete XX2.
If any of you know how to fix this could you tell me?
Moving right along..
Despite the popular belief.. I predicted that the San Antonio Spurs would win in six games. I really didn’t give a rat’s ass about this year’s playoffs. I watched less than one quarter of the entire playoffs! I think I’m still bitter about NBA being on ABC instead of NBC. Things just aren’t right on the other network *shudders.* So NBC, bring Marv Albert back and even Bob Costas (hey he can do his HBO too), swallow your pride and buy out that contract that ABC has with NBA. How about that? Then I’ll start watching regularly again.
Manute Bol Playing Hockey
Okay, so someone please tell me why former 7’7″, former NBA player, Manute Bol thought he could play hockey? He obviously didn’t succeed on the court; which doesn’t make sense why he think he could succeed on ice. *SMH*
