Anonymous Users Cannot Access Drupal Content

I quickly decided to repost this because the same thing happened with the recent upgrade. I made a post several hours ago before we left to take the kids over to their grandmother and aunt’s house then to the movies. I was logged out of the Drupal administration on this computer, went to missnexus.com and [...]

Well Umm Okay

I really did not mean to be gone for so long, but things happen like that.

A couple of good friends have positively pressured me into posting. Peer pressure is dangerous folks.

My overall health is okay, but my sanity is always questionable. The twins are getting over a cold and *drumroll*… pink eye. JT took them to the hospital yesterday and we now have eyedrops for them. William and Keisha are doing a lot better today than yesterday. They just fell asleep to Backyardigans playing in their room. Which reminds me that I need to turn their television off because I can hear it playing now. Pablo is yelling something… or is that Tyrone?

I am tired a lot these days, but according to Kat Williams, when you are a parent you are always tired.

Page Rank is Zero… Oh No, The End of the World

Sometime last week, Missnexus.com went to a page rank of zero. *gasp*

Down from a 5 to 4 to 3 to 0.

Sorry, Google I will not be shedding any tears and having anxiety attacks over this like some other webmasters and bloggers have. I will not be begging and pleading for forgiveness. I will not be removing paid posts and adding no follow links within my posts because that is what you like. Go ahead and do what you do, because you are the King of Teh Internetz, no?

I have seen a few sites explain in great detail about how they changed all their posts, stripped the paid links and/or added no follows.

Not me. I do not care.

I will spend my free time doing other things.

I will continue to do what I do.

Life does not revolve around pagerank folks.

Step Into the Nexus Sharing the Link Love

I decided to put all the linkage on a separate page. For now, all I have is the blogroll, but I will add more.

Nexy Keeps on Tumbln

I created a Tumblr account a few weeks back. Just recently started playing around with it and saw the script that allows me to embed here. I mainly have used it to post funny things that friends say online on IRC or IMs. Definitely not a replacement for Twitter but it does allow you to post more characters.

I need to tweak it a little. For example, I would like to have the titles of the posts to be in bold so you can see the beginning and ending of each post.

Searching for a Web Host Provider

My current web host plan will be up in about 3 months. I purchased a one year plan with my host provider, Host Monster. I have really been pleased with their service over the last nine months. I will most likely stick with this company unless I can find a better deal. Searching for a web host provider can be frustrating at times. There are a several factors that I consider, but initially I look at cost (annual or monthly and set up fees), disk space (how many MBs of storage), data transfer (how many GBs) and database (must have MySQL). I like to use websites like http://www.webhostingchoice.com that have search tools for finding web hosts that meet your needs.

I have learned the hard way that a cheap plan does not mean that it is the best plan. Besides an affordable package with the extra features, I need quality customer service that is easy to access, responds in a reasonable time frame, shows patience and understanding and provides the correct answers. After dealing with at least six different web hosts over the years, another one of my criteria for making the final pick is that the company must have a toll-free number. And if the number is available 24-7 then that is even better. Dealing with a company via e-mail is fine, but I appreciate the convenience of being able to use my phone to call a sales, customer service or tech representative for assistance. Afterward, I would have no problem with following up with questions in an e-mail.

My web host provider has helped me a great deal since March. At this point it is likely that I will stick with them. If something changes in the near future then I will definitely do some research to find the best deal available within my means.

Promote Your Site for Free With Entrecard

I first read about this free promotion tool at Entrecard.com through Shoemoney, but then was recently reminded of it by Eaglehawk. I recently signed up but decided to put up the code in the right column of this site today, after Eaglehawk told me how many visits he received because of Entrecard.

Entrecard.com

So far so good. The interface is simple but not too plain and everything is easy to follow. When I signed up, I immediately received the confirmation email.

My Entrecard is actually looking plain at the moment, but when I get some more free time then I will make one that is better looking. Now I will just sit back and wait for results on the dashboard.

If you have already signed up at Entrecard, what do you think about it so far?

Was AGLOCO.com a Scam After All?

Oh no, say it ain’t so folks. Agloco.com ran out of funds? I once had an AllAdvantage account and even received a check. I guess my gut told me otherwise about Agloco. After months of waiting on Agloco to give me a link to download the toolbar, I finally got the email, installed the toolbar and only used it once. I have not looked back since. My instincts were kicking in.

I received the below email, earlier this week:

from: AGLOCO.com Service
to: Rashaan
date: Dec 11, 2007 4:53 PM
subject: AGLOCO Update Notice
mailed-by: agloco.com

Dear Rashaan,

We would like to update you on the status of AGLOCO’s operations. We continue to believe in the AGLOCO concept, but our revenue is currently not sufficient to give Members a meaningful distribution. And though there are increases in membership, the resulting revenue is not enough to support operating costs. As a development team we are unable to continue to use our savings to fund the operations. If any Member would like to pursue continuing the operations of AGLOCO, you may contact us at agloco1@live.com .

We would like to thank every Member for supporting our effort to bring a piece of the Internet directly to the user. We hope that we can find a way to keep the operations going.

AGLOCO Development Team

What the hell happened? I wonder how many people contacted them to pursue continuing the operations…

Goodness.

A Little Speechless… or Not

Do you ever have so much going on in your personal and work life that when you sit down and try to blog… nothing clearly comes to mind?

My thoughts have been a bit cluttered over the last week.

Crap at work. There is nothing really knew in itself about that, but it continues to bother me. I have made a decision to stick things out the term is up next fall or I move on to better things. If I resign now then there is no positive outcome from this. Not resign from my job, but resign from my other elected duties.

Stuff at home. Working on better communication has been an on-going effort for a large part of our relationship. I definitely think things are better for us now, than this time 3 years ago… and even a year and a half ago. Still feels like an uphill journey… a journey that I am willing to continue.

Finances. Well, shit not much to say there. I believe that JT and I have the same long-term goals. Just a struggle getting there. The holiday season brings us all together, but definitely puts a strain on the wallets. We need to continue to cutback on unnecessary expenses. For example, JT mentioned us considering Vonage where the plan is $24.95 a month. Sounds fine and dandy until I need to figure out what to do with our existing Charter plan which includes not only phone, but also internet and cable television. Perhaps Charter has a reasonable plan with only cable television and high-speed internet.

Me. I am a complicated individual. JT told me the other day that my goal is to not be understood. I really do not agree, but it did make me sit back and ponder about why he feels that way. I have not come to any conclusions.

Well, I started this post being a little speechless, but it turned out that I had more to say than I thought.
