Soap Operas Are Like Crack
…For me at least, and I would suspect many other people because some of them have been around for several decades. Just like after my first pregnancy with the twins, I have been watching soap operas non-stop. Not matter how…
Rest in Peace Michael Jackson
After work today, I headed to the ice machine to load my cup with ice and water. As I passed the breakroom, I saw Breaking News on CNN: Michael Jackson taking to UCLA after cardiac arrest. I paused and wondered…
Preschool Ceremony
The graduation ceremony last Saturday was everything that I thought it would be plus more. The turnout was very nice for a classroom of about 21 children. There were many loved ones and friends supporting the graduating preschool class of…
Happy Anniversary
On June 3, 2001 I met the love of my life at a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game. That day, we played the Cincinnati Reds and we won 4-3 but other than having my ticket stub, I cannot remember much…
Be Like Claire
1. If you could do one thing in the world, what would you do?
I would become the United States Secretary of State.
2. If you could be any character from a book, movie, or television show, who would you be? Why?
I thought about this for a while and I kept coming up with nothing… but just now, Claire Huxtable from The Cosby Show came to mind. When I was growing up, I really admired her character and her husband, Dr. Cliff Huxtable of course. They raised a family of five children and had successful careers. I always wanted to be like Claire… and I still do, but minus all those kids. I may go crazy if I had five children. I think two is enough, but God willing I would love to have one more. And let us not forget, I do still want a law degree.

3. If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
I would end poverty. There are many other things I would end such as famine and nuclear warfare, but poverty stuck out the most.
4. If you could make out with one person of the same sex, who would it be?
Angelina Jolie *ahem*
5. If you could make out with one person of the opposite sex, who would it be?
Dwayne Johnson… hot damn.

Wrapping Up This Crazy Week
On Sunday evening, when I found out that my Dad and a little brother I have never met (and knew nothing about), were both going to be staying with me for nearly a week, I thought I was going to faint. I stood there in the freezer section, Sunday evening, in a daze. JT said something to me and that snapped me out of my daze. Between March 2001 and roughly June 2004, the relationship between my dad and I was virtually non-existent. After I became pregnant in 2004, I called my dad to tell him the news and work toward rebuilding our relationship. It has been an ongoing learning experience since then.
The week went by much better than I anticipated. I have a pretty good track record for when I go into a situation thinking the worse, then it almost always turns out not as bad as I thought it would. The first night (Monday night) was awkward, but I gradually felt at ease about talking about some old memories and untouched subjects. I hope that my dad has really listened to what feelings I have shared with him. I am thankful that I had a chance to be with him so much this week, particularly the last two nights where we talked for hours.
This morning my Dad left to head back to Colorado. I was a little bit sad about that. I hope that he is able to come down here next summer. I should have taken a picture with him. I do not have a picture of my Dad and I. That kinda sucks considering how into pictures I am. They left about 13 hours ago, so I imagine that they will be heading into Denver within the next two hours. I hope they did not run into any snow storms.
His Hunting Days
A few nights ago, my dad and I were talking about my grandfather. I think about my Papa all the time. I remember that he used to go hunting every winter. He would mainly hunt for rabbits and deer, but occasionally I believe that he also hunted raccoon. He often used a large amount of gear when he would hunting such as the footwear, tactical knives and undergear shirts that 5.11 tactical provides. Looking back, I am amazed at myself that I was never afraid of his rifles, bullets, knives and everything else Papa used. Papa taught me what they were for (but not how to use them), they were his and not to be played with. I respected and honored that.
These days, I cannot imagine leaving out rifles and bullets in front of any children. The times were different twenty five years ago and more, I suppose.
I would love to taste some of that venison right about now.
TMI Tuesday
1. Have you ever met a fellow blogger in person?
No I have not, but there are a lot of bloggers that I would love to meet.
2. Did you ever play an innocent game of “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours”? How old where you?
The closest version to this game that I played was when I was 18 years old. We played a game of strip poker.
3. When did you get your first not so innocent kiss?
I was once a shy girl… I did not have a not so innocent kiss until I was 16 years old.
4. Have you ever awoke with someone who’s name you did not remember?
Thankfully, I can say no to this one.
5. Have you ever let someone else wash you while you were perfectly capable of doing it yourself?
Yes, when I was 8 years old I got chickenpox. I was very ill and could not care for myself. My mom took care of me. I love you Mama.
Bonus: What makes a great first date for you?
Romance. I want to be wined and dined. You do not have to spend a lot of money on me but you also cannot just take me to Applebee’s. Dinner in a nice restaurant and a movie is a great first date.

Honoring Veterans Day

Thank you JT and Papa… the love of my life and my maternal grandfather, who served in the United States Navy and United States Army during the Persian Gulf War and World War II, respectively.
Thank you to all other veterans for protecting our freedom and serving your country with honor.
Happy Veterans Day.

Online Dream Dictionary Provides Overview of Dream Symbols
During college, I became very involved in figuring out what my dreams were about. I bought many dream books in an effort to decrypt the meaning of my dreams. For more than fifteen years, I have had many dreams about magic, water, fire, flying, sex and religion. Not necessarily in that order. In the magic dreams, I have these bewitched like powers and in the flying dreams, I am also flying to school but I can never quite fly in the speed or direction that I want to. Weird stuff. I love dreaming and even more so, I love remembering my dreams so I can figure out the meaning.
These days, because my sleep is interrupted by an alarm clock for work or caring for my children, I tend not to remember my dreams as well as I used to. When I do remember them, I try to jot down notes and look up the symbols while they are fresh on my mind. After coming across this site, I now have another reference for figuring out my crazy dreams. Dream.Dictionary-Dream.info provides information about dream symbols. I look forward to seeing the site expand with more dream information.
