Reason Number 397

October 23rd, 2007

I am having a pretty difficult day. I received some bad news, that I may write about tonight or later.

But in the meantime, JT is being supportive and having that support from your signficant other always helps. I came up to my room to have some alone time. Keisha came upstairs shortly after me. I kind of sighed to myself because I wanted my alone time, but I still let her come in my room. She was playing with my hair then she said, “Mama, you make me happy.”

Well there you go folks, that is Reason Number 397 of why I love being a mother.

I had to scoop up my heart from my bed because it simply melted everywhere from that one.

I guess I can put off my alone time for a bit.

Dr. Shapiro Provides Top Quality Service for Your Hair

October 23rd, 2007

I made a decision about four weeks ago to stop putting chemical based relaxers in my hair. After nearly twenty years of relaxing my hair, I now realize that my hair and scalp deserve better. I have now eliminated the Motions, Dudley or whatever other brand name of relaxers is available from my old hair routine. I am now working toward deep conditioning my hair once a week and reducing the amount of heat that I apply to my hair. It may take a long while before my virgin hair (non-relaxed hair) grows out enough so I can cut the remaining part of my relaxed hair.

A few years ago, I lost a patch of hair near the top of my scalp. I was devastated and could not determine if it happened due to stress, the relaxer or both. Thankfully, I had a good hair dresser who was able to style my hair and hide the bald patch while my scalp healed and hair grew back.

I wondered at the time, would I ever get a hair transplant if I loss too much hair and it never grew back or I loss so much hair that I could not hide it. I would strongly a hair transplant if the patch was larger and never grew back. I did not know that there were many women who received hair transplants, until I came across Dr. Shapiro’s Hair Institute site. His company provides hair transplants with a unique surgery for women and men. If you call 1-800-799-HAIR (4247), you may be eligible for a free consultation today.

Just Say No

October 22nd, 2007

I should have went with my first instinct and said no. Recently, someone volunteered me for not just one, but two responsibilities in a group. She basically called me out in front of everyone and said, “Rashaan can do it.” Damnit. Damnit. Damnit. I felt that I had no other choice but to say yes. And that I did. It’s not that I can’t do it… the problem is that I do not want to do it. My mind is so preoccupied as of late and I am getting forgetful again.

I think that this was the first time that someone ever volunteered me for an activity. And it will not happen again.

I am waiting to hear some news this week. I really really really hope to receive a call that I am waiting on.

We went to the library this evening and it was not fun at all. First of all, the weather was gloomy with a light drizzle. Second, many people were gathering for an event. The cast from Ghost Hunters were having a presentation in the public library main hall. I had never seen so many people gather in the library. We did not go see the Ghost Hunters. Our family went on to our regular itinerary… or at least we tried to. All of us seemed very moody, maybe from the weather or from having a long day at work and school. Plus JT and I have a lot of things on our mind these days. Other than picking up two Robert Jordan books, the weekly library experience was uneventful for me.

Other than that, I am fighting a cold. You know how you feel it coming and your body is fighting hard against it, trying not to give in. My colds usually start with a sore throat, then nasal congestion followed by coughing. I am trying to fight it off with vitamins (I bought a new pack of Womens One a Day) and Green Tea (gotta love those antioxidants). It does not help that I have a meeting tomorrow morning and a potluck at work. Ugh. I feel like crap.

During May, I bought a lot of things from local stores in preparation of travel. Bank of America suspected fraudulent activity on my account because of the large amounts of purchases. As protection, my account was frozen. I received an email that said I had to call to verify my account, but the main difference was that I had to call not click on a funky looking link.

The bottom line is that, if you ever receive emails asking you to verify a bank account or any other account that involves money. Do not click it. Call your institution to inquire if you are a victim of a phishing scam.

Linus Security Blanket1. Las Vegas :: Spring training for work. I have learned a lot during training over the last two years.

2. Linus :: The peanuts character that always carries his security blanket.

3. Struck :: By lightning… scary. I hope that I never experience that.

4. Movie :: I hope that JT and I are able to go see a movie this evening. We would like to see Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? It looks like a fantastic movie.

5. Anxious :: I am very anxious about two things in my life. I try to stay calm and pray about it, but easier said than done.

6. Bandit :: Early 20th century bank robberies.

7. Picks :: I used to use picks on the twins’ hair, but I found that wide and fine tooth combs work a little bit better. I suppose it really depends on the hair style that you have.

8. Lasso :: Cowboys and cowgirls come to mind.

9. Dinner :: Last night we had baked catfish fillets, rice, glazed carrots, salad and garlic toast. Yummy.

10. Bargain :: I love to shop for bargains and use coupons whenever I can. Stores that allow double coupons, I love you even more…
