Valentines Day 2007

February 14th, 2007

I hope that you all had a lovely Valentine’s Day. I made a Valentine Card box from a shoe box for William and Keisha. I decorated the box by cutting a slit at the top for cards, wrapped it with construction paper, cut out hearts from the paper and put a variety of stickers on the box. I made Dora the Explorer and the Backyardigans Valentine’s Day cards for the twins’ classmates. JT bought some Valentine candy from Schnucks and we packed 18 goodie bags for their classmates.

JT reported that the children had a lovely day at school and they didn’t stuff themselves with candy. *sigh of relief*

Ms. P.. one of the twins’ teachers, gave Keisha a Valentine’s Day balloon, but didn’t give one to William. I didn’t say anything about it, but I wondered why she would give one to Keisha but not to William. The rule of thumb in our household is that if both twins can’t have it then no one gets it.

I guess not everyone lives by my rule.

What American Accent Do I Have

February 13th, 2007

What American accent do you have?

Your Result: The Midland

“You have a Midland accent” is just another way of saying “you don’t have an accent.” You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

One…Two… Three Pokes… You’re Out

February 12th, 2007

Oooh what a crazy day. I am so emotional today.

Anyway, I forgot to write about the hospital appointment the other day. On Wednesday, William had his type and blood cross. His hemoglobin count was 9.9 that day… very good for my son and JT and I were very happy. Dr. T. decided to go ahead with the transfusion on Thursday. JT and I previously scheduled off that Thursday for JT’s birthday weekend. William originally had his transfusion scheduled for the first of the month, but Dr. T. delayed that by one week because his hemoglobin count was over 10 at the time.

We made it a family affair. JT, Keisha and I all joined William and supported him from the beginning to the end. I normally take William by myself to the hospital for transfusion day so it was nice to have the whole family attend for support.

William weighed in at 33 lbs and he is now 38 and one half inches tall.

The nurse unsuccessfully prepared William for the IV twice before Nurse M. came in. She is the expert in that wing of the hospital. I understand that they have to let other people learn and get better at the techniques, but I rather have M. do William’s IVs every month.

After about an hour of fluids through the IV, Nurse B. drew 150mL of William’s blood and over the next two and one half hours William received 180mL of the O negative blood. William almost took a nap until I mistakenly turned on Arthur on PBS. William loves that show and after he got one glimpse of it, he was wide awake from then on. After doing the silly things that she does when sleepy… Keisha fell asleep for about 45 minutes.

When it was all said and done, I made the next two appointments in four weeks from that date.

Thirteen Countries I Want to Visit

February 8th, 2007

1. Egypt. I will forever be mystically attached to this country and my life will not be complete until my toes touch the sands of Cairo.

2. India. Two words: Taj Mahal.

3. Japan. Beautiful Language. Beautiful Country.

4. Ghana. No special reason.

5. Ethiopia. No special reason.

6. Morroco. This would be an exoctic trip and I could speak in Arabic to the fine men.

7. France. This will complete my AP European History fixation.

8. Italy. I want Italian bread, a trip to the Vatican and the Colosseum. That is it.

9. England. Stonehenge.

10. China. I want to see how far I could run across the Great Wall of China before I pass out.

11. Djibouti. Because I simply love the name of this country. How could you not love Djibouti?

12. Spain. I don’t want my two years of high school Spanish to go to complete waste.

13. Jamaica. Because C. is from here.

What is your favorite Bob Marley song?

No Woman No Cry

No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry.

Said – said – said: I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in trenchtown,
Oba – obaserving the ypocrites
As they would mingle with the good people we meet.
Good friends we have, oh, good friends weve lost
Along the way.
In this great future, you cant forget your past;
So dry your tears, I seh.

No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry.
ere, little darlin, dont shed no tears:
No, woman, no cry.

Said – said – said: I remember when-a we used to sit
In the government yard in trenchtown.
And then georgie would make the fire lights,
As it was logwood burnin through the nights.
Then we would cook cornmeal porridge,
Of which Ill share with you;
My feet is my only carriage,
So Ive got to push on through.
But while Im gone, I mean:
Everythings gonna be all right!
Everythings gonna be all right!
Everythings gonna be all right!
Everythings gonna be all right!
I said, everythings gonna be all right-a!
Everythings gonna be all right!
Everythings gonna be all right, now!
Everythings gonna be all right!

So, woman, no cry;
No – no, woman – woman, no cry.
Woman, little sister, dont shed no tears;
No, woman, no cry.

I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in trenchtown.
And then georgie would make the fire lights,
As it was logwood burnin through the nights.
Then we would cook cornmeal porridge,
Of which Ill share with you;
My feet is my only carriage,
So Ive got to push on through.
But while Im gone:

No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry.
Woman, little darlin, say dont shed no tears;
No, woman, no cry.

Eh! (little darlin, dont shed no tears!
No, woman, no cry.
Little sister, dont shed no tears!
No, woman, no cry.)
