A Little Change
January 22nd, 2007
I found this simple theme on http://themes.wordpress.net/. Give me a moment and I will put the regular stuff back up like radio.blog, site buttons, etc. I will finish that tomorrow. I will probably add something at the header. Maybe a colorful butterfly.
Today really sucked otherwise. The work day was entirely too long. When I got home, I received a letter that I was not selected for a job I put in for because I did not have enough specialized experience. This was a really big downer. On the other hand, I received some positive words from loved ones and friends and that got me through the evening. Perhaps it was meant to be.
Radio.Blog

*Cheers* My radio.blog is back (look in the right panel). I missed it a great deal and a lot of people told me that they used to listen to it a lot. With a new webhost and a very nice bandwith plan, I decided to reinstall radio.blog. I briefly had radio.blog 2.5 up and realized that there was a 3.0 available. Thanks to the helpful documentation on the forum, I easily installed the update. My radio.blog will have some of my all-time favorites, favorites of the moment and some others.
So this month, my blog turns six years old. That is a very long time… a few months before I met JT. I have had some few rough spots along the years but I have always come back to missnexus.com. I love being able to vent and be creative here whenever I want.
*whispers* My birthday is this Saturday on the 27th. I will be 29 years old *gasp* I don’t want a birthday party this year, but I do expect one next year. Listening JT? I wonder what happened to my Amazon wish list link. I need to put that back up.
Site is Back

My webhost plan with BlueHost expired the week of December 17, last month. Unfortunately I didn’t have the $80 to renew the annual agreement and the price of the other plans were not very reasonable compared to the annual. There were no monthly plans. Thankfully, a representative was nice enough to back up my files for me in a .tar and he emailed them to my hotmail account.
I searched many hours for a cheap (in pricing) host but not cheap with the features. A lot of plans look too good to be true and I try to stay away from them because you usually end up disappointed. I signed up with GoDaddy webhosting for a month. After someone suggested it to me, I thought it may work nicely since they already host my domains. Well, I didn’t care for their features and I didn’t like how it took several minutes to set up a database. I am very used to cPanel-like structures.
So about 2 weeks ago, I restarted my hunt for a new webhost and I ended up with HostDepartment. I have the plan in the first column here. I like HostDepartment so far… they have a toll-free number but generally assist with technical questions with the Live Chat feature.
Even after getting a new webhost, missnexus.com was down for so long because I couldn’t figure out how to upload my blog’s .sql. Shady and Rob helped me out a great deal, but I kept getting many errors. After deleting two tables and hundreds of spam comments, I was able to get the database backed up properly. ‘Local Host’ did not work correctly in my WordPress config file… so I contacted HostDepartment and a rep gave me the correct info.
And here I am.
I never want a long hiatus like that again.
