Fight That Fever

December 4th, 2005

Friday evening, JT’s sister L told me that the teachers at daycare gave Keisha some Tylenol because she had a slight fever. By the time her and William Nathaniel arrived at home that evening, she was just fine in great spirits. Saturday morning, I grabbed William for breakfast first but since Keisha was still asleep I decided to not grab her and let her get more beauty rest. I fed William Nathaniel his breakfast, cereal and pancakes and gave him his bottle of milk. JT then went to get Princess Keisha Nicole… who was still asleep. I didn’t really think anything about it until after JT set her in her high chair and she wasn’t very talkative. This is very unlike the twins to not say anything during a meal.

Keisha ate all of her cereal but not very many pancakes. For the entire meal she sat there quiet, but occasionally looked over to me and smiled. I began to suspect that something was wrong. Later that morning, we laid the twins down for their morning nap. Keisha’s morning nap turned into a half of the day nap… she slept for four at least four and one half hours. I had to go wake her up for lunch and it was about 3pm. When I lifted her out of the crib, I noticed that her entire body was hot. I took her downstairs and I decided to feed her first then I checked her temperature. The thermometer read 102.3 degrees. Since this is not the first time that either of the twins have had a fever, I didn’t panic but I did worry as any normal parent would. But I worried a little more than normal because Keisha rarely has fevers this high and because it was so high I began to think that it might not be from teething.
