Tired of Being Sick

This past week has been pretty difficult. Remember when I last told you that William had the sniffles? Well, the sniffles turned into a cold and Keisha and then dear old mom caught it too. Last Friday, I woke up with an extremely sore throat, so sore that JT said I sounded like Donald Duck. I quickly drank a mug of black tea and sugar. FYI green and black teas are full of anti-oxidants and are great for building a strong immune system. The hot tea brought a tad bit of relief to my throat by reducing my voice from Donald Duck to semi-hoarse. Still, I wasn’t too pleased with having to go to work.

While at work I took my time talking and spoke quietly to help reduce the pain. Later C, gave me some liquid Tylenol with Cool Burst (I think that is what it is called). Of course the liquid made me want to blow chunks. I have this thing about liquid medicines… I much rather have the capsule. Within fifteen minutes my sore throat was nearly gone. I was completely in disbelief because I have never had any medicine to work that fast. I asked C. if she had given me liquid blue crack and after she stopped laughing at me, she said no. She did tell me that they come in capsules, so I look forward to adding this to my medicine collection.

The twins and I were under the weather for most of Saturday. The sore throat was gone, but now my body ached and my chest was congested. Between taking care of the twins and myself, I didn’t get much sleep. Saturday night SUCKED. That is all that needs to be said about that. Sunday was much better health wise; body aches were gone and the twins were feeling better too. On the other hand, I still didn’t get much sleep because I spent three quarters of the day networking two PCs wired and a laptop wirelessly. Sadly, all of this time spent could have been reduced to less than thirty minutes had I known that there was a friggin reset button on the bottom of the 2wire wireless modem. UGH.

An Alternate Retirement Home

ust another forward, but considering how America treats her elderly, this made me go hmmmm:

About 2 years ago Diana and I were on a cruise through the Western Mediterranean aboard a Princess liner. At dinner we noticed an elderly lady sitting alone along the rail of the grand stairway in the main dining room. I also noticed that all the staff, ships officers, waiters, busboys, etc., all seemed very familiar with this lady. I asked our waiter who the lady was, expecting to be told she owned the line, but he said he only knew that she had been on board for the last four cruises, back to back.

As we left the dining room one evening I caught her eye and stopped to say hello. We chatted and I said,
“I understand you’ve been on this ship for the last four cruises.”

She replied, “Yes, that’s true.”

I stated, “I don’t understand,” and she replied, without a pause, “It’s cheaper than a nursing home!”

“An Alternative Retirement Home”

There will be no nursing home in my future………

When I get old and feeble, I am going to get on a Princess Cruise Ship.

The average cost for a nursing home is $200 per day. I have checked on reservations at Princess and I can
get a long term discount and senior discount price of $135 per day. That leaves $65 a day for:

1. Gratuities which will only be $10 per day.
2. I will have as many as 10 meals a day if I can waddle to the restaurant, or I can have room service (which
means I can have breakfast in bed every day of the week).
3. Princess has as many as three swimming pools, a workout room, free washers and dryers, and shows
every night.
4. They have free toothpaste and razors, and free soap and shampoo.
5. They will even treat you like a customer, not a patient. An extra $5 worth of tips will have the entire staff
scrambling to help you.
6. I will get to meet new people every 7 or 14 days.
7. TV broken? Light bulb need changing? Need to have the mattress replaced? No Problem! They will

Avoid the Urgency

I really should type this out and staple it to my chest as a reminder:

Avoid the Urgency

Most things that end up being urgent didn’t start out that
way. Most urgent matters, had they been addressed when they
first came up, would not have to be rushed.

Putting off a difficult task until later only makes it more
difficult. To truly make your life easier, go ahead and take
care of the hard stuff as early as you can.

When you put off something that needs to be done, you don’t
get rid of it. You merely make it more burdensome than it
otherwise would have been.

Each time you procrastinate you deny yourself the
opportunity to get the work done calmly and carefully, at a
comfortable pace. Instead, you push the work to a time and
place where it must be hurried.

That ends up creating needness anxiety and reducing your
effectiveness. The far better choice is to go ahead and get
it done before the need for urgency sets in.

What could you take care of today that would prevent you
from having to deal with an urgent matter later? Go ahead,
get it done, and bring more peace and positive purpose to
your life.

Ralph Marston

Vernal Equinox

So Fran emailed me the other day and told me that she wasn’t able to comment on the site. I wonder if this has been happening to a lot of people because I haven’t had many comments in a long while. I just thought that no one cared anymore lol… If you are having the same problem, please leave a comment on the contact page. Describe what the problem is. If it is related to the bot check, I want to know so I can correct the issue.

*Site update: I disabled the bot check. Leave a comment to let me know that it works for you. If you run into any types of errors. Let me know on the contact page. The bot check had no effect on me and I have already tested the comments for myself. So I need your assistance to fix the problems. Thanks.

*Yet another update. I restored the bot check, because I messed something up earlier when I tried to delete that code.

Twins update: Keisha is now completely over the loose BMs. William had the sniffles this morning so I hope he is not coming down with a cold. We have two Baby Einstein DVDs in the collection, ‘Numbers Nursery’ and ‘Language Nursery.’ The twins love to watch these videos and I love Baby Einstein even more because they are educational, keep the twins occupied and you can select REPEAT MODE. JT and I look forward to adding to the collection soon. I recommend this series to all infants and toddlers. In other news, Keisha continues to cry and cry and cry everytime I comb her hair, so I have developed a method where if I comb her hair while she drinks her morning bottle, she won’t cry because she is so into the comfort of her little belly being filled up with Enfamil Lipil with Iron. Parents you have to learn the art of being slick with your children at an early age. We must outsmart them.
