Halloween

Happy Halloween… and I hope you all that are celebrating, are having a safe holiday.

I have not been big on Halloween since I was about fourteen years old. I think this was about the last year that my Aunt and I decorated our front porch for the children who came by trick-or-treating. It was a pretty cool arrangement that we used to have… plenty of dry ice for that smokey effect, Michael Jackson - “Thriller” playing in the background, decorated pumpkins with the lanterns all over the place and other decors. The young ones really used to freak out when I played Vincent Price’s horrific laughter at the end of the classic song, as they crept up the stairs. If they made it up to the porch, Aunt Dot would say, “Trick or Treat?” Some would say trick and we would have them do something silly or tell a joke. Even if they said, treat we still made them do something for the candy lol we were not giving out stuff for free!! I remember one year, we made kids dance… “Do the Running man boy!! You know that dance like MC Hammer, come on now, you want a Snicker bar don’t ya?” Meanwhile, in the background I was playing “U Can’t Touch This.” Those were the days…

Did you see the little Google Halloween graphic at the top? Just so cute!!

Might Be Dating

Thanks for all the lovely comments on my pictures *muah*

My Mom thought she was slick by sticking in some information on the slide in our conversation just now. She decided to let me know that she might start dating this guy. I just did not have the strength to say what I really want to say. I am giving my Mom credit for respecting me enough for sharing even just a tad bit of information. She knows that I am inquisitive as hell and I would basically dig the information up somehow regardless. But tell me how you might start dating someone? I am not stupid. Mama know she dating that man already. You do not “might date someone”!! I do not like being treated like I am dumb or a little girl… With anyone else I would have stepped up and had to regulate. But dang homie, this was Mama. So after my eyes twitched and my head throbbed a couple of times, I took a breath and responded, “oooh ok” and left it at that as far as the conversation was concerned.

On the other hand, if you know me then you know that I think too damn much. I over analyze a lot of shit in my life, big stuff and small. I got to thinking about how my Mom deserves a good man in her life. The man that she “might date,” he is an okay kind of guy but… but… but Mama deserves more than that!! I can imagine that if I was dating a younger version of him, Mama just might frown at me… but she would take a step back and realize that this is my life. So I must do that for my mother. I have to swallow my harsh words and realize that this is my Mama’s life. She is a grown woman who has needs and desires like other grown women. In the back of my mind, her eldest child still wants the best for her. Mama deserves it.

Thanks Tee *hugs* for letting me know my comments were jacked up. You all should be able to comment again lol..

I am about fed up with b2 and b2 evolution. My patience runs very thin sometimes… I am now considering Moveable Type *shock* I got the installation guide open now so we will see how this turns out.

More Pictures (taken today):

I got my hair done this morning (in record timing) and you really cannot even tell because Mother Nature had the nerve to have it raining all day!! I really did not even care that Mother Nature tore up my hair because I was still shocked that I was up and out of a black hair salon after approximately one hour. You just cannot beat that. Now if she had taken four hours to do my do and then my curls fell after ten minutes… then I would be hella pissed. My hair is still growing and I am sick and tired of everyone asking me if I am pregnant because my hair is growing so fast LOL Maybe I just got Indian in my family and I got good hair, did you ever think of that? LMAO

Here are a couple of pictures that were taken in Colorado Springs:

JT and I at the Garden of the Gods.

Close up of the above picture.

The Kissing Camels at Garden of the Gods.

Me *cheese* but it was mighty windy so I was not trying to look mighty pretty.

This was when they made me climb the rocks. I was so scared, but JT came to my rescue *swoon*.

The Penis Rock at Garden of the Gods. *Note* I named this rock, so do not try to claim this rofl

I love JT.

Got That Reading Bug

No Friday Five… hmm I really need to come up with my own thing like Friday Jive or something. I was counting on a Friday Five too because I did not know what I wanted to write about in particular.

Packrat I Am

Came across this quiz through Timi’s site.

I was almost appauled because I thought I was declared an Isolationist, but do not fret, I am a liberal!!

Liberals…

Are wary of American arrogance and hypocrisy
Trace much of today’s anti-American hatred to previous US foreign policies.
Believe political solutions are inherently superior to military solutions
Believe the US is morally bound to intervene in humanitarian crises
Oppose American imperialism
Support international law, alliances, and agreements
Encourage US participation in the UN
Believe US economic policies must help lift up the world’s poor
Historical liberal: President Woodrow Wilson

Modern liberal: President Jimmy Carter

OJ hipped me to Winamp 5 and indeed the coolest feature is that you can still use all of your old school 2.xx skins on the beta version. Winamp just went completely insane when they came out with version 3. I remember when I first installed that garbage, I immediately uninstalled it right after it crashed my Windows.

I am still using the Opera internet browser. I anticipate unistalling Mozilla soon, unless I can find something about it worthy of me keeping it on the computer.

Now this is something crazy…

250 arrested at Wal-Mart

Workers nabbed on immigration charges; executives facing subpoenas, U.S. official says.

I know Wal-Mart cannot be the only company doing this. Three cheers for the feds cause I do not support any company hiring illegal immigrants. There are plenty of Americans without jobs who are willing and ready to work (full article).

Is it possible that someone just smacked some sense into sniper suspect, John Allen Muhammad? As quick as Muhammad announced to represent himself in the trial, he later reversed the decision. Either way, I feel justice will be served (full article).

Another reason to ban this dreadful sport. Rest in peace, Tony Renna.

Yankees take the lead over the Marlins, 2-1.

Will this grocery strike ever end? This morning, I heard on the news that the stores have decided to cut off the health benefits of the workers on strike. The benefits are paid two months in advance, so benefits will cease next month for the workers on strike. This only makes sense to not pay the benefits for someone not working for your company, right? JT and I will just do what we gotta do… Saturday we went over to Aldi’s instead of our regular Shop N Save or Schnucks trip. I spent $63 over there at what is considered the discount store in town… that would probably translate to double if not triple at the competitor stores. I still miss the whole convenience of going into a store whenever I want or need to. These strikes are going to be extremely rough on families, considering that the holiday season is coming up very soon.

Minus the huge income and whatnot, I think I would make a better ambassador than Angelina Jolie. I like her as an actress and all but… bleh just let me up in the United Nations so I can put my degree to use ok?

Colorado Springs Day Two

I woke up this morning rapping to myself, “Parents Just Don’t Understand.” How random… but that was the jam!! LOL

Last night JT and I took a trip to the laundromat *long sigh* I despise going to the laundromat, especially when you have to deal with a crowd, dryer hoggers, funky people or a huge clothing load. We fell into the latter category last night. Somehow we ended up with what appeared as three and a half weeks worth of clothes. I wanted to scream!! The washing was no problem, we use the super duper big washers that cost $4.75 and $3.75. The larger one, we use for the coloreds and the smaller for the whites (why do I always think of something racial when I say that lol). Anyway, the washing only takes twenty three minutes. No problem there!!… but the problem is with the drying. I swear those dryers stop working at the most inopportune times. Either they do not get hot at all or they get hot just a little bit, but someone with some stank breath can dry my clothes by breathing on the load faster than the dryers can. Despite using seven dryers, it took roughly an hour and a half to dry and fold all of the loads. The highlight of the trip to the laundromat was after playing Pac-Man (which is our routine while at the laundromat… and this time I came this close to beating the high score!!) we went over to the washing machines and there was six minutes left on the counter. JT and I looked at each other and the same time, we yell, “Six Minutes!!…” and we start rapping Doug E. Fresh’s, “The Show.” Are we showing our age? LOL

Still, going to the laundromat sucks!!

I am reorganizing a few things around here… Testing out b2 evolution. It is somewhat like b2, but an enhanced version of b2. My weekend was okay, got plenty of rest but I did not get much accomplished at home. The Rams beat up the Packers *cheers*

I will add some more to this post a little later. Just wanted to let you know why it is so bare up in here.

Colorado Springs Day One

Stop teh press!! Today is my Celie’s birthday. Happy Birthday Carmen. I luh you wit all mah heart. Me and you mus neva part…

A whole week between posts… whoa I have not done that in a while. I had a major attack of pure laziness forgive me lol. I had a short work week but it did not feel like it, so I am quite thankful that today is Friday.

When you guys come to my site, do you get a popup like I am getting? I wonder if this is from the people who host my how many online script….

Thank you to my Vinabean for sending me a Hallmark E-Card yesterday, welcoming me back home. She makes me feel all speshul and loved *hugs* Truly the highlight of my day.

I am splitting my trip up into a couple of entries, so I will not bore you all at once. I want to split up that boredom, makes sense right? lol… The following includes day one of the trip (Saturday) and Friday Five.

I had a great weekend in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A little mini-vacation… but well I deserved if I may say. The ride to Colorado Springs was approximately thirteen and a half hours; back home took a few hours extra because of a few pit stops. During second and third grade I lived in Aurora and Denver, Colorado. I have several still shot memories of lots of snow, taking the bus, playing with my brother, moving from town house to a house, being singled out at school as one of the few gifted black children (oooooh she is black and smart) and building Lego houses nonstop. A bunch of good and bad memories remain in tact.
