Might Be the Flu

Acetaminophen, Dextromethorphan, Doxylamine succinate, Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride…

All of these are the active ingredients in my Rest Easy Night Time Liquid Caps, the Walgreens brand of NyQuil. Sometimes you just do not need the brand name of a product… I saved $5.00 by buying the Walgreens brand. Prescription and over the counter medicine can be quite expensive. I see no reason to pay $11.99 for the brand name when I can pay $6.99 for virtually the same product. The only differences are a few of the inactive ingredients. Gotta avoid the lawsuits, so you cannot have an exact duplicate of another product. My favorite off brand is Equate at Walmart… Equate has it all in the health and beauty sections.

Now some off brand products, I will just not tolerate. The number one off brand item I will not buy are Payless tennis shoes. Many of you know them as ProWings from the old school days. Those are absolutely the worst quality of shoes I have ever seen. Back in the day when times were tough my Mama bought me some of them shoes in sixth grade. Almost as soon as I walked in the school, I was traumatized by the kids… the rest is a blank, all I know is that I am never wearing them janks AGAIN rofl. But on the real, those shoes are not a very good quality, they are certainly going to tear within a week. I stick to the name brand when it comes to tennis shoes. Nike and Skechers are my favorites.

Just a Game

Add another life lost to the list. I heard the sad news about Robert Palmer passing away in Paris, on the MJ Morning Show as I prepared for work this morning. In the eighties (and still… to this day) I was always jamming to Simply Irresistible and my favorite, Addicted to Love. I used to imitate the women in his videos, hair slicked back, guitar in hand, red lipstick, swaying side to side and looking pretty.

The weather is extremely gloomy this morning, lightning, thunder and a light drizzle of rain. On top of that my eyes are puffy, I swear they are swollen three times their normal size. Or at least that is how it feels. My nose is stuffy and I my constant sneezing is becoming annoying. Gotta love Saint Louis weather!!

Tired of the Internet?

Do you ever get tired of the internet? I love the internet, you can chat with friends, research new and interesting topics, email, shop, download stuff, etc. The problem is that sometimes the internet gets dull and dry like a 1,000 page novel that never ends and you set there wondering when the plot will get better or just come to an end. I get on my computer at home, after work, hoping to escape from a reality if only for a bit. I rarely send instant messages to my friends troubling them with my problems. I enjoy chatting with them about funny things… and if they need a ‘listening ear’ for their problems, I am always here. It all comes down to me wanting to get away… when I find myself getting annoyed by people and things online, then I know it is time to pull away. I have enough annoyance offline, so oft times I wonder why go through anything remotely similar online? With a slight click of a button I am offline. It is that is easy to get away from the internet but then again… it is not.

What keeps me coming back to the internet even when I am in that fed up mood? There are a few people that I enjoy talking to on the internet (and a couple on the phone) generally no matter what is going on. I should hope that they know who they are. Even when I do not feel like talking, an instant message and/or email from these select few people does not irritate me. They somehow always manage to put a smile on my face; lifting me up when I am down and maybe even get a few laughs out of me.

Autumn

Happy First Day of Fall to all of you Autumn lovers.

Unlike most people, you will hear me booing and hissing in the background. This is the beginning of a season (followed by another) that I absolutely cannot stand. While the leaves on our deciduous trees change from green to an artistic mixture of yellow, orange and a tad of red, my allergies and sinus problems arise. In the midwest, there is generally no warning for weather change. One day may be ninety degrees and three days later it is seventy degrees. And to add to that, I hate Winter even more. I think I was destined to live in a more steady and calm climate like Arizona. Nice dry heat… no humidity (like St. Louis) and no allergy problems!!

Parking Garage Collapse

I meant to post this two days ago but I kind of ran out of time to do it before work. Two days ago the second level of a parking garage (near my job) collapsed, completely destroying two cars. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt from the collapse. And do not worry about my car since I do not have one! I take my camera everywhere I go, so you know I was on the scene. According to KSDK Channel 5 local news, the parking garage had not been inspected since 1969. You would think there would be some sort of regulated inspections. Especially for locations near the police academy, police station and a government building. Here is the full article of the story… and the following are three of the pictures I took:

Miss America is Teh Black

How many times will it take for me to learn my lesson? I am so fuckin hard headed. I need to always type them out in Notepad first then transfer to my b2edit. I just typed out this nice long entry and lost it…

Okay I am over it…

Not really but life goes on.

Congratulations to Miss Florida, Ericka Dunlap for winning Miss America 2004. Miss Dunlap is the sixth African American to win the competition in the history of the event. Yes, I am counting Vanessa Williams LOL. I did not even watch the whole event, but I was informed by Carmenina Watkins last night at 9:56:

Carmen (9:56:05 PM): MISS AMERICA IS TEH BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then I turned it on, to catch the tail end of her screaming oh my god, oh my god… and yes I got a glimpse of that horrific weave she had on. Get a new hairdresser and congrats again!! On another note, why is she Miss Missouri? Why??

Soulful Relationship

I am protesting this week’s Friday Five. The questions are often way too repetitive. Instead I shall post this forward that I received from San. It really got my mind going this morning. Whether you are in a relationship or not read this, sit back and think hard about the following:

Soulful Relationship by Reverend Ronald McFadden

If you’re not married yet, share this with a friend. If you are married, share it with your spouse or other married couples… and reflect on it. An African proverb states, “Before you get married, keep both eyes open, and after you marry, close one eye.”

Before you get involved and make a commitment to someone, don’t let lust, desperation, immaturity, ignorance, pressure from others or a low-self esteem make you blind to warning signs. Keep your eyes open, and don’t fool yourself that you can change someone or that what you see as faults aren’t really that important.

Once you decide to commit to someone, over time their flaws, vulnerabilities, pet peeves, and differences will become more obvious. If you love your mate and want the relationship to grow and evolve, you’ve got to learn how to close one eye and not let every little thing bother you.

You and your mate have many different expectations, emotional needs, values, dreams, weaknesses, and strengths. You are two unique individual children of God who have decided to share a life together. Neither of you is perfect, but are you perfect for each other? Do you bring out the best in each other? Do you compliment and compromise with each other, or do you compete, compare, and control?

Latifah Lotion

The climax of my day happened five minutes ago when I found out through Calvin that the Oxygen channel shows reruns of one my all time favorite television shows ever, A Different World. They are running back to back episodes from 5-6pm CDT. The first episode was when a hurricane near by trapped everyone at the Pit, meanwhile Fred and Ron hooked up at the station… thinking that no one would know about it. I need to start taping these episodes because I am not usually home during this time of day.

The reason why I am home early today is because we had training at my job today. The training was nice and dry as I expected and in the afternoon I was able to get my nap on. Got to spend time with my buddy Cheryl. She works on another floor of our building, so I hardly see her much since training ended earlier year in February. We had an hour and a half lunch break, so several of us decided to take the MetroLink and go to Union Station. Union Station is in within walking distance, but the MetroLink is convienient for the lazy like Cheryl and I. Unlucky us, another co-worker decided that she wanted to tag along with us. She is a kind person at heart, but damn she is annoying and gets too personal with the information she shares with us. I do not want to know about all of your medical problems. We are not close like that… TMI… TMI! All throughout the “training” we played these silly ass, time filler games. I even won something, but check it… I won a damn 10pk of Almond Joy candy bars *tumbleweeds* what the… Okay who did all this dollar store shopping for the prizes? I hate almonds, so I would have prefered a dollar store picture frame over that! Oh well… I will see if JT likes them *giggles*

Strong Candidate?

Clark to launch 2004 presidential bid Wednesday

Former NATO supreme commander Wesley Clark has decided to seek the Democratic nomination for president and is expected to announce his candidacy Wednesday, sources close to the retired general said.

Clark is expected to launch his candidacy in his hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas, with an announcement at noon (1 p.m. EDT) Wednesday. He has assembled a team of campaign operatives that include veterans of the campaigns of former President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore.

Clark, 58, is a West Point graduate, Rhodes Scholar and former CNN military analyst who led U.S. and allied forces in the 1999 air war in Kosovo. He declared his party affiliation September 4 in a CNN interview and will be the 10th Democrat to launch a bid to unseat President Bush.

Clark convened a meeting of his political advisers and friends Tuesday in Little Rock to discuss his decision. Among those planning to attend the meeting were George Bruno, a former Democratic Party chairman in the early primary state of New Hampshire, and former Clinton White House spokesman Mark Fabiani.

Clark retired from the Army in 2000 after a 34-year career that included combat in Vietnam, a Rhodes Scholarship and leading the military negotiations in the peace talks that ended the war in Bosnia in 1995.

He became NATO’s supreme commander in 1997, but reportedly clashed with Pentagon officials during the Kosovo campaign and was relieved of command after the war.
