Friday Five

Tomorrow is Tiffany’s wedding. I am a bit nervous (definitely not more than her, or am I?) considering I am in (Maid of Honor) the first wedding that I have ever attended. I hope I do not blow chunks every where during my speech at the reception.

Regardless, this will be Tiffany’s beautiful day (please do not rain!) and I will have pictures galore :D

Now this is a Friday Five that I can appreciate.

1. Are you going to school this year?

Yes, I am taking an at home course in Desktop Publishing.

2. If yes, where are you going (high school, college, etc.)? If no, when did you graduate?

An at home course; Thompson-Education Direct. I graduated from college in May 2000, from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelors of Arts in Arabic.

3. What are/were your favorite school subjects?

Chemistry and math are my favorite school subjects. I also love foreign languages, political science, history linguistics and philosophy.

4. What are/were your least favorite school subjects?

English.

5. Have you ever had a favorite teacher? Why was he/she a favorite?

Amendment XIX

Suffrage

suffrage n. 1. A vote. 2. The right or privilege of voting; franchise.

Amendment XIX:

The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

USConstitution.net states that:

Though the Constitution originally made no mention of a woman’s right to vote, it was implied by society - woman simply did not have the right. The 14th Amendment actually made things worse, by codifying the suffrage right to men only, when its Second Clause punished the denial of suffrage to men (though this still did not officially deny women the right). As early as 1848, groups met to discuss how to further women’s rights, and the franchise, it was decided, was the best place to start. But America was not ready, and the suffragists, as they were called, were branded as immoral.

Famous women’s rights leaders Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton tried to make a stand after the Civil War, to have the language of the 14th Amendment include women, though the issue was thought too volatile by most, and passage of the amendment was thought to be in grave jeopardy if such a provision were included. Anthony later used the 15th Amendment as rationale for voting in a New York election, and though she was tried and fined for voting, the ordeal proved the final impetus for the eventual guarantee of voting rights for women. By 1918, about half the states had granted women full or partial voting rights; the stature gained by women involved in the temperance movement also helped push the suffragist movement along. On June 4, 1919, the 19th Amendment was passed by Congress, and it was ratified on August 18, 1920.

Summerslam

Last night JT and I went to Hooters to watch the WWE PPV, Summerslam. As I suspected, Summerslam was pretty good. It had been a long while (I think) since all the McMahons had all been involved in the same event. With Undertaker’s assistance, Stephanie came out to take care of Sable…Shane was victorious over Eric Bischoff…backstage, Linda slapped Eric Bischoff…and to no avail, Vince interrupted the Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar match. Kurt Angle won with an ankle lock submission. Speaking of Shane, the highlight of that match was definitely when he jumped off the top turnbuckle with a classic elbow drop on to Eric Bischoff, breaking the Spanish announcer table into several pieces. Triple H won the Elimination Chamber match. Of course he found a way to use the sledgehammer on Goldberg in the match after Ric Flair slid it through the steel cage. The only thing that disappointed me was that I thought John Cena should have been involved in the pay per view. His rapping skills are comical, but other than that he is cool in my book.

Kill Charlotte

Garth Williams - Charlottes WebCharlotte done got up in my apartment somehow and I do not appreciate that shit one bit. The bitch has laid her babies and sometime last week that must have hatched because JT and I keep seeing these itty bitty white spiders climbling down from their web dangling from the ceiling. The nerve of Charlotte to come in and disturb my household. She is going to have to die soon along with
her nest because homie ain’t playin. My Mama told me that my brother bought her some spider bombs from Lowes and put them in the attic. Sometime last week, Mama told me that she killed a spider as wide as a quarter. Hell to the naw… I already cannot stand spiders and that would have been too big for me. I may have just passed out right next to the arachnid on the floor. The bitch in my house is only the size of my pinky fingernail, but she gots to go right now. Heffa got me twitching all over thinking that her bastard white children are crawling over me. I have only seen them in my computer room, but JT and I going to have to make a trip to Lowes real soon. This is putting one of my favorite movies on the shit list right now.

Quote of the moment: [18:16] < datboybb > HOW DO I RECIVE PACKETS!!!!!!!!!!!

Has this ever happened to you on AIM?

Before I hit up the Friday Five

My thoughts are with you my love <33

Congratulations to my alma mater, Washington University in St. Louis. In the latest edition of US News & World Report’s annual college ranking, WU tied at number nine to close out the top ten. And the WU Medical School is tied at number two!!

If you are getting a javascript error it is because the server of uqg-2000 is down. This is the second time that this has happened, so I think I am going to consider installing my own script for how many users online. If you know of any please let me know.

There was something else in the news that I wanted to mention, but I just forgot what it was…

I am not impressed at all with this week’s Friday Five, but here ya go:

1. When was the last time you laughed?

Last night while watching a Sci-Fi movie with JT and his mom. The movie was about some alien vessel coming to Earth and the idiot scientists were too curious for their own good. Sounds like every other alien movie, right? But the killa was that Carl Lewis was in there ROFL

2. Who was the last person you had an argument with?

JT… it was a stupid small argument and we made up quickly.

3. Who was the last person you emailed?

Honesty is a Beautiful Thing

Two weeks ago, right before my vacation I headed on down to the cafeteria in the building where my job is located during my morning break. My break is at 11am and my lunch is at 1pm… they stop serving lunch at 1:15 so I always feel forced to rush down to the cafeteria at 11am to grab my lunch. A couple of times since I have been at my current job, I was not able to get off the phone until after 1:15 and I missed out on lunch *sigh* I digress…

I was down in the cafeteria and the indecisive part of me could not figure out what to eat. Caesar salad…ummm no…stale fried chicken…hell to the naw…something from the grill…eh maybe. I walked up to the grill line and immediately glanced down at the crisp Ulysses folded in half. In that split second I wished it was mine… but I immediately asked Corey (one of the gentlemen who be hooking up my croissant, egg and cheese in the mornings!) who had just left the area. No one was near by at all… Corey said why? I lifted up the fifty dollar bill and gave him the mmmhmm lips. He said whoa.. umm some guy…and he then looked puzzled as he glanced over the cafeteria in search of the gentleman. I quickly walked over to the register and asked a gentleman in line if he had just lost any money. He replied no. I walked back to the grill and asked Corey again if he knew who the guy was. I guess by this time he remembered and Corey began describing the guy. I handed the fifty to Corey and asked him to make sure that the gentleman gets ahold of his money. I purchased my lunch and carried on with my day.

A week went by and I was on my vacation…

No Work Please?

I really do not want to go to work today. First day back from a nice long week of vacation. Our vacation went by entirely too fast though. Did we do all of the things that we wanted to? Of course not, but number one… I got plenty of sleep. So why on this dreadful Monday Morning, do I feel like I have not slept in days? That is the way it works I guess…

Each day that goes by, the more I realize that I need an at home career. Not a job… a career.

Did you see Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” during the seventh inning stretch at Wrigley Field yesterday? At the moment I cannot find a good article about it to link you up to, but I shall find one later *note articles are now at the bottom*. Surprisingly, several fans cheered them on… I wonder how that would go if they were singing our National Anthem  Do not want… to… go… to work :(

[edit]
Well work today was not quite as bad as I thought it would be but it was bad enough.

I am watching WWE RAW at the moment and I just saw a commercial for Summer Slam… people at the beach were screaming “SHARK” and the next thing you know, Brock Lesnar runs into the ocean and puts the F-15 (his finishing move) on the shark. Now that was hilarious.

And for some reason, this made me think of that old school shark on SNL that used to knock on people’s doors and when they answered he would attack them

And how crazy is WWE going to make Kane? Pouring gasoline over Rob Van Damn’s face… not cute :X

Downloaded a PDF version of Madonna’s sex book. Just tell me how she hooked up with Big Daddy Kane and Naomi Campbell at the same time. She got mad skills… goodness gracious.

Monday Mission

I am always late with the Monday Mission…

Monday Mission 3.32

1. Have you ever been looking forward to something so badly that you were just crushed when it never happened?

Yes, I was very excited about going to Virgina Beach this month but unfortunately we were not able to. Perhaps we can go this fall or Chrystal can come visit us in St. Louis.

2. Have you ever been told about a wonderful present that you were never given? Maybe they went as far as telling you exactly what it was, how wonderful it would be and how much they would have loved for you to have it, but for whatever reason, they wouldn’t be giving it to you after all? How did you feel about that?

Yes, my dad did this to me all the time while I was growing up. He would tell me about a car that he was going to get me, but I never saw a car… It made me feel quite disappointed and I am still bitter about it to this day. I will never do my future children like that.

3. What is the longest time you’ve ever kept a secret from someone, or, are you still keeping it? How did it feel to keep it so long? Can you think of a situation you were in where a secret should never have been told?

I have secrets with my that I have never told and plan on never telling. Some secrets should not be repeated, so it feels natural to keep it within. I cannot think of a situation where a secret should not have been told.

4. Have you ever been lied to by someone you trust with all your heart? How did it feel when you found out that trust had been broken?

Yes and it one of the most devasting feelings that I have ever experienced.

5. When, if ever, is it acceptable to tell a lie? Are “white lies” any different than the “real whoppers?”

Ebay Hell

I almost forgot the reason why I have not participated in an auction on Ebay, but lucky me I was reminded today. I found a great deal on a Victoria’s Secret bra. I began to make the purchase via the buy it now feature and then I saw a couple of negative comments on the seller. I read the comments and one of them said that the bra was a rip off of VS. So then someone advised me to ask for a picture of the tag. I did not complete the purchase through Paypal and for some reason the item did not show under winning bids. I was willing to finish the transaction with a valid image. I emailed the woman and asked for a picture.

Here is her response to my original email:

I just received your “end of transaction” notification. You have already purchased a VS bra from me. Do you still want the pic of the tag?

and my response to that:

No I did not purchase it, I never hit submit via PayPal. I just checked my PayPal account to verify it.

Yes, I would like a picture of the tag.

The fact is I did not purchase the bra. Perhaps this was miscommunication with the terminology. Does not to purchase mean to have paid for something? The answer to this was simply, no I did not purchase the bra.

Then she sends this email:
