Cassette Singles
June 28th, 2003
Circa 1989 – 1996.
I either didn’t have money for a whole cassette or I only liked one song from the album. I remember raping Sam Goody and Camelot (now FYE) for their cassette single sales. The Top 20 was almost always on sale.
JT bought me a new CD rack because my other one was beyond ghetto. Actually it wasn’t mine, I stole it from my brother. That’s beside the point though. Anyway, as I’m loading MY new CD rack, I’m glancing across my dusty old cassette singles; many in which have not been played in several years.
*Blows dust away… AAHCHEW*
Let us see what we have here. Click the title for a picture of the cassette.
Aaliyah- At Your Best (You Are Love)
1994
Side 1 LP Version
Side 2 Gangstar Child Remix, Stepper’s Ball Remix
While everyone else was concerned with whether or not R. Kelly was married to fifteen year old Aaliyah, I was swaying my hips to this Isley Brother hit. This is truly a classic remake. I heard Ashanti was going to attempt to redo this song. I hope that this was an ugly rumor *smh*
Anita Baker- Body & Soul
1994
Side 1 Edit
Side 2 Baby (LP Version)
Wasn’t this the last major hit Anita had?

Whatcha Gonna Do
June 25th, 2003
What a crazy night I had…
One highlight of the morning (at approximately 1am this morning), was my first witness of a live drug bust. We were in Illinois, don’t ask me where because I was sleeping a great deal of the way there. On the parking lot of a McDonald’s there were police and sheriffs handling their business with a couple. I can only assume the woman was giving one of the sheriffs a whole lot of trouble because he looked quite frustrated. Then the policeman and a German Shepard (that’s the breed of those right) come out of no where and the dog began to yank out some drugs. I was quite entertained. I kept my head low as if I was still sleep but I was actually watching the whole scene and humming the theme song of Cops to myself. Of course the man and woman were under arrest and as we left the parking lot the sheriff was still talking to the man and the woman was loaded in the patty wagon. This tops watching this on FOX I tell you.
Whatcha gonna doooooooo? Whatcha gonna do when they come for yoooooou?
Don’t ask me why we were in Illinois at 1am. I’ll leave that up to JT if he would like to tell the story here *crosses fingers*
Now, at 6:34am, I am baking a cake for work today. Our team decided to throw a little shindig for our manager’s birthday. I hope this cake turns out well because my mind is not quite here yet.
I need sleep… now.
This is one of those days when I want to call in so bad.

Monday Mission
June 24th, 2003
I didn’t know the Monday Mission was back…
1. What is the difference between spirituality and religion?
Spirituality is an inner frame of mind and Religion is an institutionalized structure for belief in a higher being.
2. What is the difference between someone listening to what you say and hearing what you say?
Listening to what you say would involve understand what that person is saying. Hearing what you say would only imply acknowledging the sound coming from the person’s mouth. You can hear what someone says, but you may not always be listening.
3. What’s the difference between a Father, and a Daddy?
Any man with good sperm that meets up with the right egg can be father. A Daddy is someone that truly has raised and loved his child unconditionally.
4. What’s the difference between being married and living together?
Being married involves a contract before God, the Law and the couple involved; you may or may not live together. When you live together, you may or may not be married. You might just be a boyfriend and girlfriend who really love each other or two college roommates sharing an apartment. I see no direct correlation between being married and living together.
5. What’s the difference between growing up and growing old?
Growing up involves maturity and experience. Growing old is simply a change in age.
6. What’s the difference between getting what you want and getting what you need?
Getting what I want involves materialistic things that are not necessary for me to live. Getting what I need involves things that are necessary in my life.
7. What’s the difference between punishment and discipline?
Punishment has a negative connotation. When I hear punishment, I think of an unlawful wrong doing. Discipline means obedient, well structured and mannered.
BONUS: Can you hear me calling you?
Not yet.
Today’s Comment Question:
Evaluation
June 23rd, 2003
Today was ok..
I had an evaluation at work that was overall good, but I really didn’t agree with one itty bitty part of it. My manager listened on three calls and on one of them he said I said something that I know I didn’t say. The statement brought my percentage down. I told him I didn’t agree and it was the customer who said the statement. Well unfortunately, my manager wasn’t trying to hear all that and he stuck to what he wrote initially. Oh well.. despite this, I was pleased with the evaluation (among the other two). For a while, I battled with myself internally on whether or not to continue to dispute the issue at hand. I have this thing about signing an official document and I don’t agree with something or some part on it. Then I began to realize that this battle wasn’t worth all the hooplah so I grunted to myself in my cubicle and moved on with my day. The work day was smooth but slow.
I couldn’t believe that I ditched wrestling for Sex in the City tonight. I missed the season premiere of my favorite HBO show last night. At 9pm, Scott sent me an instant message and when he uttered the magic word, ‘Spunk,’ I knew that our show was on. I have to say that I was most traumatized by Aiden getting married and having a baby. Ok now.. how much time has passed since he was engaged to Carrie? This is nonsense! I know it couldn’t have been more than a year. Aiden’s man-whorish ass must have been depressed after breaking up with Carrie, got drunk, slept with some skank (his baby mama) who ended up getting pregnant and out of pity he married her. Yeah that must be it!
Happy 21st Birthday Tessa. I hope you had a fantastic day!!

Joyful
June 21st, 2003
What a joyful day. First thing in the morning I got my hair done at the beauty salon. Sissy’s cousin scrubs the hell outta my head along with running extremely HAWT water; so much that my scalp was read, but that felt mmmm mmmmm good. Pain equals pleasure (sometimes). My hair is still growing and the layers aren’t holding in place quite like I would like them too but it still looks nice.
I hung out with my dear friends.. did some secret shopping on the side. I can’t go into details of what I bought at this time *wink* The weather was a bit unbearable at one point during the day, so Terenie and I stopped at 7-Eleven to get something to drink. She bought a Slurpee and I bought a Lipton Peach Tea mixed with 7Up. I like mixing drinks.. but anyway I bought the Hulk cup for my 44 oz drink, thinking it was the color changing cup that Terenie told me about a week ago. I failed to remember that the specialty cup was only for Slurpees. I was a little distraught over my plain Hulk cup. By the way, did anyone see that movie?
No?
Didn’t think so.
I much rather watch the television series on DVD.
Also, we saw the Italian Job at the theatre yesterday. It was a little dry in the middle, but I enjoyed it overall.
Friday Five
June 20th, 2003
Congratulations to the love of my life for a job well done at work!
On to the Friday Five…
1. Is your hair naturally curly, wavy, or straight? Long or short?
Naturally wavy and long. I use relaxers to straighten it.
2. How has your hair changed over your lifetime?
I’ve cut it in styles a few times and currently it is cut in layers. Also my hair has developed a reddish-brownish-blackish texture.
3. How do your normally wear your hair?
Normally in a ponytail, but I’m trying to wear it down more often.
4. If you could change your hair this minute, what would it look like?
It would be long, but all one length.
5. Ever had a hair disaster? What happened?
Last year I had a bald spot on the top of my head. I have no idea where it came from; luckily I had enough hair to cover it and the hair grew back in a couple of months.
