Boredom
September 16th, 2002
Here’s a sign that I have too much time on my hands.
I’ve been looking for a fairly inexpensive digital camera. I have a project that I want to start working on so I need one with at least 2.0 megapixels. My dream digi-cam is about $1,000 (see wishlist), so I’ll just hold off on that one for now lol. I have a CafePress account, but I had put that on hold for a bit. I’m anxious to get that rolling.
I recently joined the Grimey boards, a forum ran by Coco.. her site is tight.
Beautiful weather in Saint Louis lately. JT and I are planning on going to the zoo. We didn’t get to go to Six Flags this summer, but he said we’re going to Fright Fest which should be really fun. I had one bad experience during Fright Fest. I was about 12 or 13 and I got on the Mine Train… The Mine Train is one of the least scary rides at the park. On the ride, my stomach started feeling real funny and I felt like I had to throw up. Near the end of the ride, I just couldn’t hold it in and *insert barfing sound* everything came up that I ate that evening. I felt so embarrassed, but
I quickly ran away as the ride ended so no one could point at me with disgust lol.

Tee Tee’s Birthday Party
September 15th, 2002
Yesterday was my bestfriend’s birthday party. She hosted the event at her house. Her birthday was September 11, but she decided to have the party on the weekend (makes sense). I had a lovely time. Dinner was great; she cooked mostaccioli, potato casserole, garlic bread and we had chicken wings from Ponderosa *licks lips.* I took my camcorder and my godson AJ had me crackin up as he danced to ‘Bunny Hop’ and ‘Pimp Juice.’ Sadly, he has more rhythm than me.
I got Tiffany a picture holder from Things Remembered. It’s a wooden frame, with three 4×6 windows on the outside and two wooden booklets inside, which also holds several 4×6 photos (this is how it looks). The outside is engraved ‘Tiffany’s Memories,’ in an Old English font and the inside booklets state, ‘Friends Forever’ and ‘Happy 25th Birthday.’ She liked the present *big grin.*
We also watched a few movies, ‘The Temptations,’ ‘I’m Gonna Git You Sucka’ and ‘Dirty Work.’ LOL
I’m not sure if I want a big party for my 25th birthday or a small gathering. By the way birthday is January 27th if you want to send me something or buy me something from my wishlist. You have plenty of time to save up, my taste is not cheap.
Sopranos season premiere is tonight and umm right now I’m watching Pootie Tang on HBO.
Sah-dah-tay.
Random Thoughts
September 14th, 2002
Mind if I throw out some random thoughts?
A moment of silence for Tupac Shakur who passed away six years ago, September 13, 1996.
I love JT with all my heart. He is truly my soulmate.
People say JT looks like Luda, but I don’t believe that mess.
LL Cool J is sexy but he licks his lips way too much.
Nelly and Kelly look cute in the ‘Dilemma’ video, but why is Larry Hughes making a guest appearance?
I hope Khia will fade away like her first single is starting to.
Barbershop and Brown Sugar look like they will be good movies.
Erykah Badu is a very creative Black woman. Check out her latest video, ‘Love of My Life.’
AJ from 106th and Park is so unattractive.
I like junk food. Lemme name a few: Cheetos, Doritos, corn puffs, Hot Pockets.
I hope the Cardinals go to the World Series; I’m tired of the Astros raining on our parade.
I’m ready for basketball season to begin, but what I don’t understand is why did Shaq wait until recently to have surgery? New season right around the corner, dur.
How long before Lil Bow Wow disappears like Dupri’s former protégé Kris Kross?
Does Friday the 13th scare you?
TV Preview
September 13th, 2002
My aunt had some free tickets to a TV Preview. She offered them to JT and I. An evening of viewing television pilots. Sounded interesting at first. So yesterday we went to the TV Preview in West County. Evening traffic was herendous as usual but we eventually got there at about 7:15pm. I saw a lot of people walking into the Marriott, so I thought to myself.. ‘hmm a lot of people are going in, maybe this will be interesting.’
Oh dear, I was so wrong. We get inside the conference like room and we overhear the lady who was grabbing the tickets, telling the group in front of us that the event will last until 10pm. I immediately look over at JT and asked him was that ok with him. He hesitated at first lol, but then said ok. After we confirmed that we were okay with being stuck in the room for 3 hours, a gentleman named Major handed us two folders with booklets and golf pencils.
The first booklet was for a prize. The objective was to circle one product from each page; e.g. on a particular page there were a list of shampoos, so we had to circle the one shampoo that we would want if we won the drawing. TV Preview started off with a shitty impression. We didn’t when shit.
The first pilot we saw was entitled ‘Soulmates.’ It starred a women from Third Watch and was about a pyschologist who had a patient that she knew from a past life. No one else in the pilot looked familiar. The storyline was not smooth and I fell asleep a few times. I don’t even feel like telling you what else happened. No more TV Preview; one night of gahbage was enough. It was basically a ploy of an advertisement company to see what brands of products we liked. You get the picture that our evening sucked.
Until we had Lee’s Chicken for dinner. Yummy.
Remembering September 11th, 2001
September 11th, 2002
Happy birthday my dear TeeTee. I love you. And as you turn a quarter of a century old, I wish you all the hapiness in the world.
Everytime I hear Whitney Houston’s and Marvin Gaye’s performance of the Star Spangled Banner, it sends chills all up and down my spine.
You gotta download those if you don’t have that in your collection.
September 11, 2001 as I saw it:
It was my day off. I remember so clearly sitting here in the cockpit (my computer room) and flipping on the Today Show. It was about 8:30 am, Matt Lauder was reporting that a plane had just hit the World Trade Center. What the hell….. I wiped the sleep out of my eyes to make sure I saw what I thought I had seen correctly. I immediately called JT at work. That conversation is a blur because I just sat and dazed at the television screen. Next I hear that another plane had crashed into the other building. It felt like my heart skipped a couple of beats. I was extremely overwhelmed by the visuals. I gazed over to my computer and immediately typed the urls of my sources of news; Yahoo, CNN and New York Times. Soon, the word of a terriost attack was all over the internet.
I thought to myself, “ohh shit, it’s Tiffany’s birthday. I gotta call her and wish her happy birthday.” As I began to call my best friend, images of the World Trade Center flashed in my mind. I wished her a happy birthday and immediately we started talking about what happened. I hated that this tragedy took place on my best friend’s birthday.
After the crashes in Washington D.C. and Pennslyvania, local and world news began speculating more hijacked planes. This worried me even more.
Vacation
September 10th, 2002
My last day at work before my week and a half vacation was beyond stressful. My day was going just fine until about 6:10pm. No need for all the details; but in brief, once again it was a hostile complaining about something that was not my fault.
I normally can contain my anger, but this evening I could literally feel my temperature rising as he stood in front of me complaining.
I was so glad when he walked out of the door. I let out a humongous sigh.
Vacation. I don’t have anything planned other than to rest, spend time with JT and straighten up the apartment. Saturday is my best friend’s birthday party. Her birthday is tomorrow. Oh yeh, I’ll be sure to watch plenty of television.. and I really want to go to Dave & Busters and see a couple of movies.
I have a test tommorow for a job in a federal building downtown. I’m not really nervous about the test, but I’m sure I’ll have the heebee geebies from being in a federal building on September 11th. Tommorow will be a very sad day. I’m not sure that I’ll be watching any of the news programs for memorials and dedications or not. It will stir up many emotions for me.
Uppity
September 9th, 2002
Webster’s New World College Dictionary defines uppity as ‘inclined to be haughty, arrogant, snobbish, etc.’ Yesterday, at work a woman told me that a security guy didn’t like me because I was uppity. First of all, let me get my laughs out of me…
*pause for a minute*
Ok.. I don’t live my life trying to impress people. Ask anyone that knows me. But what intrigued me is that I really didn’t even know what uppity means. I think some people see it as stuck up, but I asked JT and he said that it’s about how I present myself and act.
Well, how do I act? At work I don’t take any bullshit from customers. I’ve learned not to let anyone walk all over me, especially men. Dealing with electronics, a lot of men (and some women) have this mentallity that women don’t know shit. I’m not gonna deal with all that by getting stressed out.
Example: Male customer comes in. He wants to hook speakers to a television. I qualify his needs by asking open-ended questions. He doesn’t have an amplifier. Problem number one, you can’t hook speakers to a television without an amplifier. Then he goes on talking about how his friend has it. I wanted to tell him, if his FRIEND has it why didn’t his FRIEND hook it up for him. Anyway, he started acting like I didn’t know what I was talking about. I’m gonna keep telling you it’s not gonna work. You’re not gonna me me feel like
I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about.
Now a lot of male customers I have consider that having an attitude, but when guys do that it’s all good.
I think I’ve talked about this before, but also a lot of men are intimidated by educated women. I hate that shit so much; it irritates me to no end. You’re not gonna see me acting like a chicken head. I have respect for myself and people around me. My Mama didn’t raise an idiot and I didn’t get a $100,000+ education for nothing. I’m gonna act like I got some sense and if this is uppity so I shall be!
Serena Williams
September 8th, 2002
Serena Williams is powerful, no doubt; but last night at the US Open, Venus defeated herself. I enjoyed the match overall, even though Venus was not at her top game. I think she had about ten double faults; I’ve never seen her have so many in one game. On the bright side of things, Venus and Serena bring a combined 1.35 million dollars home with them.
I wonder if other women tennis players are mad that the Williams sisters are in almost every major tournament final.
Aretha Franklin, once again, sang beautifully although I couldn’t help but want to call the fashion police on her for that blonde pony tail she was sporting. And speaking of fashion, why won’t Serena wear a different Puma outfit? She keeps wearing the black one; it looks nice *UNF*, but is that the only one she has? At least Venus changes up on her Reebok outfits.
Well, anyway congratulations to Serena and Venus for dominating women’s tennis once a-gain.
DirecTV
September 7th, 2002
A sigh of relief. After nearly two years of consideration and chaging my mine, it finally happened. No more basic TV, satellite is here. We have DirecTV *does the running man*.
Basically, I got tired of dealing with Charter cable and besides, I’m sick of their poor customer service and prices. Once upon a time cable was nice, when you had reliable service, consistent prices and great customer service. Now as Charter goes for a monopoly of cable service in Saint Louis, I run to DirecTV.
Ok, so when you get right down to it, is DirecTV any better? LOL Dish Network is working on getting the government to approve the merger of DirecTV and Dish. Any where you turn is a dead end; it’s just that some dead ends are further away than others. I’m happy with it so far, even though the installation man was LATE and one of my access cards is defective *mini scream*. We will receive a new card shortly. I hope JT likes DirecTV as much as I am *wink*. Meanwhile, I’ll be watching Sex in the City for the first time in several months, tomorrow!
Back Again
September 5th, 2002
It’s been a long while since I have posted an entry. I think about a month. Sorry about that. Sometimes I get burned out. I was so anxious to have a new layout but I went braindead everytime I opened Photoshop or Fireworks. So I went with something simple (again lol).
This is version four of missnexus.com. I hope you like it.
I’m already getting tired of my Tweet song, so I’m sure I’ll be changing the songs fairly often.
What’s going on in my life.. umm well I’m STILL looking for another job. Things look hopeful but not promising (yet). We’re scheduled to get DirecTV satellite tomorrow. I’m so happy I could do a three backflips into the livingroom right now. I haven’t had cable in over a year. I miss the music videos, ‘Sex in the City,’ ‘Oz’ and ‘Soul Food.’ I hope all goes well with the installation tomorrow morning *double crosses fingers, eyes and toes.*WWE is coming to town next Friday for a house show, but I don’t have tickets. I just hope that they don’t have the nerve to sell tickets for a PPV that night. I will be highly pissed if they do that.
My cat has gone extremely crazy lately. Wait, he was already crazy, now he’s insane. He’s been doing this thing for the last 4-5 days; jumping on top of my stove to get to the counter and then he knocks off my loaves of bread onto the floor. Tigger likes bread, especially that sweet Hawaiian bread. But I don’t understand this because I don’t have any Hawaiian bread, it’s just plain old potato bread, Texas toast and white bread. Yes, I discipline him but it’s not working. Ugh. What to do, what to do?
Go Kelly, you won the American Idol competition! Now can we stop the press on this?
Umm back to the site.. I still need to get my tagboard back up and add some more pics and other stuff, but in the meantime au revoir
(yes I stole your French words JT *evil grin*).
